At the work garage. Elantra GT.  Good color. Practical. It occurs to me this would be a good first car for a girl like mine when the time comes.

The GT sport with the 201HP Turbo is a very good car. Comes with a manual as well.

That’s what I’ve read.  I wouldn’t mind her getting a manual either.  In fact, I think it’s good to learn.  I’d have to get my sister to teach her though.  I can only describe it.  But then, I learned from descriptions and taught myself.

My daughter is getting my Mazda3. It’s a manual. I think it will be a great car for her to ruin. It has lots of airbags and ABS.

Cool.  Yeah, the safety features are the most important thing. I’d like to say she should pay for her own car, but I’ll chip in when the time comes if that’s needed to make sure it’s as safe as possible.

2018 Hyundai Elantra GT/Cargo volume
24.9 ft³, 55.1 ft³ with seat area

If I were looking for a brand new something or rather commuter boi , this would certainly be on the list. Good looking little guy that’s actually useful. Plus that warranty...

It’s a nice looking car. I’m sure you could teach her if she wants to learn - you’ d be riding shotgun the whole time anyways!

My favorite cheap car was the new Hyundai Accent with the GDI engine. Something like 42mpg and the interior wasn’t terrible. I had a Cruze and it *was* terrible, so...

Exactly But the nice thing is the quality should be there so I could buy with confidence used and out o f warranty, too.

I think the key word is the “new” in front of “Hyundai”.  Anything they make these days I would trust.

I really like the look of the Elantra GTs like this, especially in that blue. Definitely on my ‘ consider’ list for when I have to replace the Accent when the time comes!

I’ve always thought most of their stuff from around 2006+ was starting to get trustworthy...maybe not EVERYTHING from that year, but that was the first year of my Accent’s generation and I’ve had no real problems with it at all in 94,000kms!

I haven’t driven one, but I sat in one and my only gripe was the usual too-high beltline, and too much hard plastic on the door panels. On the other hand, it looks good, like you say has actual space in it, and the visibility is really good for a modern car

The Hyundai telematics has some cool parental control features too. You  can get the car to narc your kid out on a variety of parameters (speed, time of operation, geofence)

You’ll want to double check this of course. I know the Veloster does it. I don’t know about the Elantra.

I like how the new Accent actually looks sortof like a shrunken Elantra GT as well. :)

Yeah. I liked the old gen Sonata and Azera design . It was unique and edgy. I thought Hyundai went boring with the new Sonata, but that look has proven to be very adaptable from the Genesis line on down, and it works.
