Although im asking Oppo, which anything crazy isn’t a bad idea.
My S-10 leaks water on the drivers side of the floorboard when it rains. I replaced the weatherstripping with the OEM kind and put 3M weatherstripping adhesive. The collection of water is much less, but it’s still slightly damp. after yesterdays heavy rain. (I let the carpet dry using a fan for 2 days)
Is it possible for the area under the windshield be leaking?
But, my crazy idea is just to rip out the carpet and put a bedliner coating on the whole floor board, even in the ext cab area.
Weightsaving + LS swap = awesome! Just wipe up any water with a towel and be done. Or am I asking for trouble?

Just rip out everything and turn it into a mid-engine LS7.

I dealt with this on my Cherokee for a loooong time. I finally pulled out the carpet and mostly disassembled the dash so I could get a clear view of everything, then I laid the garden hose on the roof, let it flow, and inspected everywhere. Turns out, the water was running sown the inner fender and pooling where the inner fender meets the firewall. Th e water could get high enough in this spot (roughly 3/8") to get into the opening for the blower motor just above it, and trickle down the firewall to the floor. It was extra elusive because it required a reasonably hard rain, which we don’t often get here in Oregon, so it would be dry for weeks, then suddenly a swimming pool in my Jeep.
Do some investigating- it’s probably coming in somewhere on the cowl.

Does your S-10 have a sunroof? If so then it might be leaking from there.

You’ d see the water pool up, and then the puddle would splash your foot around corners.

Everyone is giving you “good” advice. I say, rip out the carpet and do the bedliner. Shall be awesome.

Bedliner for the floor is a good idea. My car has a rubber floor which makes cleanup easy.

Hve you checked for rust in the floorpan? It's possible the carpet is getting wet from underneath.

I ended up doing something similar with my $250 2002 Taurus that I made the mistake of getting. Taught me a lot of lessons about bodywork.
I needed to find out why my trunk was soaked, so after ripping out every last piece of carpeting to sit out in the sun to dry, I soaked the entire back of the car to figure out what went wrong.
Turns out the OEM gaskets for the spoiler had given up and were letting a veritable torrent through, so off came the wing, on went the silicon gasket maker, and that fixed that problem.
There was also a tiny leak in the antenna, but I fixed that by fabricobbling together an old Jeep antenna and some metal bits and bobs with a bit of gasket maker mixed in.

No rust... yet. Im definitely trying to prevent that. Just started leaking this summer.

I did pull out some leaves where the door hinge is. I’ll go back and see if there is more.
Might just be the problem. Thanks!

M y wife’s 92 Accord did leak a little at the lower left corner of the windshield, (and left side of the back glass too.) I cleaned both areas as good as I could and used some clear silicone caulk. It worked on the front, but the back would still leak a bit...

maybe the front screen needs a reseal?

Fix the problem. Water means moist air , which is breeding ground for mold and bacteria, plus exposed metal would rust as well, not to mention getting into instruments and stuff. It’s just an s-10, but since it sounds like you plan on keeping it, do it right.
Don’t forget to check the rear window, too, and if you have a cab-mounted third brake light. The weatherseals there shrink and crack, and I’ve seen plenty of trucks with water intrusion from there.

Thanks, I’ll check that too. The carpet by the rear doesn’t get wet, could drip down to the footwell.
