It started smelling like campfire at work and it looked like the sun was setting, even though it was only about 3pm. Turns out there is a fire just South/East of here! Unfortunate that it is right near Thousand Oaks, as if they dont have enough to deal with right now... Commute home might be interesting since the 101 is shut down and that is my way home. I will take the PCH to avoid it but surely more traffic will be routed there to avoid the fire. Hoping nobody is hurt by this fire and the winds die down so that firefighters can get it under control.

Dealing with the same up north. There’s an 18,000 acre fire just east of Chico, and the heavy winds are blowing all the ash and smoke all over the Sacramento valley. Blech.

Put some gas in the tank and make sure you go pee before you leave. It’s going to be a long drive home. I also heard about t
he fire in NorCal near Chico, meanwhile it’s snowing in MT.

Man dude, you’ve had a lot of shit to deal with on your commutes home this week.
Such a bummer about the fire, though. We have enough shit to deal with. Plus, this is really bad timing with winter coming. There will surely be mudslides in this area :(

I’ve got a full tank thankfully. At least once I get on the PCH I’ll be out of the smoke area so I won’t suffocate with the top down. But yeah we need some precipitation! Snow up at Mammoth needs to happen too but we haven't seen any rain down here since April so it's long overdue.

I hear that Chico fire is growing at 8 football fields per minute. Crazy.

Welcome to the north!
Seriously though, hope they get everything under control.

I heard the same thing. It’s insane to even think about how much land that is.

Hah yeah but when you are far enough North for that, then you get super long days in the summer at least! But in this case it was the smoke obscuring the sun enough to make it look like a sunset. With how much the wind is increasing right now, control seems unlikely unfortunately.
