Yeah I definitely love the red. Had a couple minor battle scars, but in pretty good shape overall.

For now. I’ve decided not to fix the front fender, as much driving around in a damaged car bugs me, because

a) I don’t have the money to fix it right now.

b) Even if I did, or I asked my parents for help with it, I don’t feel like putting more money into a cosmetic repair on a car worth maybe $2,000.

I still like it a lot, but when the time comes I’ll be glad to get back in something newer and more comfortable (it does kinda badly on the highway, where I drive a lot).

I see a ricey   one everyday on my way home from work. Similarly, I also see a totally riced IS300 sportcross with terrible red accents on the daily. Both arguably oppo and rare, but not in their current state.

You should seriously consider an LS430. It’d be a perfect cross between an LX and your dearly departed A8. If you get a sport model they’re actually half decent to drive as well.

I’ve certainly looked at one and would be totally down to consider it. I’d probably go for a ‘97-00 LS400 as I prefer the styling

I have a 97 400 and absolutely love it, but for the money the 430 is just a better car. Both fantastic cars, I just think the 430 felt that much better. The 430 was the only thing I’ve ever drove that I liked anywhere  near as my as I like my S600.

ALMOST bought one of these. Too bad it is literally a Subaru and ended up being a dumpster fire mechanically for typical Subaru problems. It would have cost me more than my STi just to get it to the same condition and who knows what else would have been wrong with it beyond that...

Sure did teach me a valuable lesson though about how damn worth it a PPI is!!!

They are pretty rare  Especially a red one! I like it. They are almost always blue, black or sliver

Yeah, your fun depreciated beater era is coming to an end. It’s highly underrated to have that reliable, comfortable car on demand, and then you have that Alfa  or spooky an S8 on the side for kicks.

Had any explosive headgaskets in the mean time? And these are definitely worth some money to the right people. Seeing as some nutcase paid more than $8k for the basketcase that I was looking at. And they bought it less than a week after I denied it. I mean I guess it was super clean so someone with a skillset and the time for a project could have made it worth their while. Or they flatout ignored my warning lol.

Had to replace valve cover gasket but the head gaskets had already been done. It’s served me fairly well so far.

Buying a Subaru with the Headgasket recently replaced has been my number one recommendation to others haha. That’s exactly what the status of my STi was when I bought it. And I’ve been problem free! Sure something will break eventually but a year and 15k miles with zero issues is a good start to me. I had more problems with my Miata in that window when I bought it so I’m pretty happy.

I am surprised you don’t see more of them at least in the US. When they were new they could be had for 0% interest through GM. I new a few people that took that picked one up because they liked my WRX wagon so much.

I see base models once in awhile, but this is only the second Aero I’ve seen in the wild since owning mine.
