Looks like the Sunchaser’s headlight problems remain a mystery.

Kinja'd!!!

Lows work intermittently, but mostly not. Highs don’t work at all. Markers, tails, and signals all work. All connections seem secure. It has been at the shop all day and they can’t figure it out. Road trip tomorrow may be Infiniti. Speaking of which...

I am considering new wheels for the Infiniti. I have bad curb rash because of too many business trips with bad city parking by me. Any ideas to dress it up. A part of me wants to lower it and start having fun with it....

They are 20s. What would you do?

Intermittent electrical problems are the worst. The majority of the time it comes down to corroded, or bad, ground connections but I’m sure your shop as looked in to that so you’re left chasing ghosts. Yuck.

Would 19" wheels still clear the Infinity’s brakes? The reason I suggest it is trading some steering response for hopefully a more comfortable ride. You have a Q50 or Q60, correct? I’d see if OEM wheels from a G35/37 or 350/370Z would fit without major issues. Using OEM wheel s from vehicles of similar manufacturer can change the looks without being too attention-grabbing.

Woo electrical problems!  Do they have interposing relays? If not that have you/ they checked the switch?  What year?

See here. This is my jeep and the rear bumper and tire holder blocks out the drivers side tail lights. So on an Australian bumper they ad the land rover / euro brake light and turn signals.

I added 4 separate relays back behind my interior spare tire to wire up these and the front ARB bumper with turn signals. L/R Turn, brake, parking. Works great.

I’d do same thing, only wire 2 relays under the dash for high/low beams. Power source can be from fuse box or battery, signal from wire harness under dash or directly from head light switch. Ground relay and fuse power source for relays. And you can run a higher wattage beams in the Sealed beam conversions I think you already got.

I need to do this do my H4 XJ sealed beams also, it’s on the list.

Electrical specialist here. Additional details are required. Specifically I need to know EXACTLY how comfortable you are wrenching yourself and EXACTLY how much space you have to set aside parts.

Yeah. It’s officially turned into THAT kind of a job. I’m, say, about 60% certain what the problem is. And why the shop can’t find it. And it is not mechanically difficult, but is extremely  labor intensive.

Duck tape and flashlights problem solved. But seriously have you checked the high beam switch? That caused me major headaches in some of my older cars.

I highly recommend hard wiring your headlights to you battery and using a residential light switch for on/off. I did this with my horn and it was amazingly loud as there was no voltage regulation.
