I actually like these cars, the only real shame was that Renault never gave us the turbo 1.4L version.

This car will make you the Enve of 11 older men who maintain “ American Renault Quarterly” the guide to 1980’s low end French  cars in America.

“F actory U ndercoating” Looks at pics of clearly rattle canned undercoating on the bottom.

“ No Rot” Looks at picture of rotted passe nger side front fender.

I’d give him $500 for it.....

ProTip: I used to deal with Renaults. (We were the only shop in town willing because the service writers were stupid like that.)

That is the factory undercoating. It’s not rattle canned. It’s a polyurethane spray that was applied to parts and underbody on the assembly line. You can identify it as factory because the rear skidplate was undercoated off the car, the cross-member bolts are not sprayed over, and the sway bar and sway bar mounts are NOT sprayed. This stuff is TERRIFYINGLY effective.

It was also banned by the EPA around ‘89 I think it was.

Well of course it does. It’s a Renault . But that’s not rot from under the car. That’s rot because “what’s a drain channel” and “galvanized steel is passe.”
