Ever since I heard they’re putting the widebody kit on the Scat Pack, I have been eager to spec one out on their website. They organized the trim levels now, so there’s only 6 different models to build compared to 16.

Scat Pack: 6-Speed manual, Widebody Package ($6,000 package!), F8 Green, summer tires, Scat Pack rear stripe, Harmon Kardon Sound System. $50,000 MSRP.

So, what are the general Oppopinions on 2012-2014 Challengers with the 3.6? Crapcans? Good for the money? (theyre about 12-14k here in Holland). Slow? Fast? I'd love to know....

Buying a Challenger sans V8 is just wrong.

Ecoboost Mustangs and Ecotec Camaros have their places, but Pentastar Challengers? Just say no.

Those were my exact thoughts, unfortunately, v8 challengers arent as easy to find here. V8 Mustangs are a bit easier to find, but somehow I like the lines of a Challenger better...

The Challenger is a big, fast, heavy  muscle cruiser, it has no intentions of being a corner carver.

Wish they'd do a widebody charger

I’d guess one would pay closer to $43k after all the fancy promotions. Fun fact, the scat packs aren’t considered “SRT” models, so a company discount can be used on them.

I actually enjoyed my rental Pentastar Challenger. It obviously doesn’t pull as hard as its bigger engined brothers, but those skinny all season tires can break loose if you try hard enough

But it sounds like a pentastar...

I have a ‘13 Charger with the 8 speed auto (the 4 door version ). It’s not the bank-vault feel of the E-class it’s based on, it’s plasticky inside, but it’s comfortable and 292HP is... sufficient. It will go like stink and embarrass quite a few cars. It’s tail happy in the wet/snow, and it’s no Miata in the corners, but it is a big car. Lots of room inside, backseat isn’t a penalty box (on the Charger at least). You definitely want a backup camera - rear visibility is bad.

Fuel economy is surprisingly good considering size and the displacement. 20-22 in town, but low 30s are not hard to get on the freeway. And that’s US gallons too, so that’s 11.5L/100km in the city and and 7.5L/100km on the highway.

As for problems, the Bluetooth module blew up twice, the HVAC controller died, and the alternator went like 4 times before they finally recalled it. The electrical issues seem to have been related to the alternator, as it’s behaved since.

They’re quick enough to get you in trouble, are generally reliable when taken care of, and can crack off low 30s for mileage.

They actually have a pretty aggressive growl from in the car.

But they sound like a V6 from everywhere else.

You get amazing sounds from in the car when you mash the loud pedal, outside the car it’s just a deep sounding growl.

Honestly the Penta is plenty of fun in these, even in AWD form it has enough grunt to chirp the tires coming off a light and pins you back in the seat until well over 80 mph. It’s more than enough fun, yet extremely comfortable for daily use, while cracking off great mileage.

I’ve heard plenty of pentastars, and they’re fine in 300s and base Chargers, but they sound like ass.

V6’s just generally sound bad, and don’t fit the personality of the Challenger at all.

I’m still wondering who the heretic was with the idea of  a four door charger.

The R/T is on my list, I jus t dont want an ex-police car, which most imports here seem to be...

I’d maybe check the Halifax,Canada area. Low mile ones a couple of years old are sub-20K Canadian (3.6 Chargers at least, Challengers/R/Ts  will be more). Depending on import fees it might be cheaper and worst case it’s an ex-rental (ex-police would be substantially cheaper). Plus direct “ferry” service to the Netherlands.

I did not think about Canada, hmm, I should look into that. Most ex-cop cars here are still liveried and have light bars. A clean, non-liveried one wouldnt be a problem, but importing myself might actually sound like a good plan.
