These are the types of small s cale but impactful solutions that make an immediate impact on people’s lives. California’s leadership is consumed with grandiose visions of high speed rail and Delta Tunnels that cost insane amounts of money and will help no one for decades, if at all. That moneu should go to things like this.

The whole high speed rail thing does seem quite silly. Flights from LA to SF are really cheap/quick and driving is a relatively simple 5- 6 hour drive. Like sure I would love to have a high speed rail for that purpose, but at what cost? Having public transit that works as well as a place like Tokyo or London seems like a much more useful goal.

I mean, that’s great and all, but infrastructure isn’t a pick A or B conundrum. You can do both.

The whole rail thing is silly. People will still have to drive to the rail spike/station. And then it’s stop and start. The speed won’t be much better than riding Amtrak, which is already established, for the most part. And, they still have no clue how to get the rail through the mountains to LA. And then ticket prices are going to be worse than riding Amtrak.
So, *shrug*

Well Amtrak takes 11 hours just to get to Oakland and then you still have to get to SF from there. That seems asinine to even attempt. At that point, you can get to SF faster by taking the PCH the whole way which is 100% worth the time at least. I can see the value in having a quicker train option and high speed rail is definitely something the whole country should have. But it just doesnt make sense to make it such a high priority considering all of the technical challenges and land rights issues. I’d see more value in making airports less of a hassle just so that it wasnt so stressful, that’s gotta be easier to accomplish for less money.
