Oh boy. Feet.
![]() 11/02/2018 at 11:49 |

I did this with a 70lb bar once. 0/10 would not recommend.

That’ll buff right out.

Better have a doctor look at that. Feet and big toes are super important.
Hope it heals fast!

Why did you do that? That’s what my did used to say. Yeah, it wasn’t funny then either.
Hope it’s not broken. You’re lucky if it isn’t.

Ouuucchhhhh. Glad this wasn’t more severe.
If there’s any silver lining here, I’m sure someone with a very specific foot fetish will really appreciate this...

Welcome to the state of modern medicine.
I have “walked it off” more times than I can count since I first started on the high-deductible plan a few years ago. Puncture wounds, tendonitis, numerous colds/sinus things...

Dude, your toe is looking swole! Totally worth it.
/couldn’t resist
//hope it’s not broken

You have my sympathies. I’ve broken a variety of bones over the years, but breaking a little toe was the most painful thing I’ve ever done. I felt every step I took for about the next month after. Even worse might have been being an eighteen year- old guy and overhearing the nurses looking at the x-ray outside the exam room and saying “isn’t that cute, look at that little broken toe...”

Bleah on high deductible insurance. Good lu ck!

Just to cast a ray of sunshine. At least you only hit a single toe and didn’t do something dumb like break 4 bones right in the center of your foot.
Best of luck making the right call on a Dr visit!

Hope its now broken :/
You need some steel-toed shoes.

“ Dad, make me a sandwich.”
“ Abracadabra, you’re a sandwich.”
The laughs just keep coming.

Had a quarter plate fall a little higher up once on my foot bones. That was not fun. Can’t imagine how much worse another 20 pounds would be. You may need an x-ray. :/

Yeah, I am currently working on the Walk It Off miracle cure.

I am pretty sure it probably doubles. Newton's law or something like that.

Lol, that's what I wear at work all day. I had that exact thought after it happened.

Last year I was performing circus trick - ride my motorcycle around the block. I landed that 600lb no lip bastard on my ankle. My whole ankle looked the color of your toe. I wrapped it. Foot started to turn green. I thought I was gonna be a stumpy.
It was just blood doing blood things. Still have my foot. I can even walk on it.
You’ll be alright.

The system works! Look at your reduced healthcare costs!
My employer has done away with our healthcare exchange this year and is offering us a much more limited slate of plans this year, I’m extremely worried they will all be awful (we don’t have details yet). I’m in sort of a mixed situation though, my health care costs are high enough that even with a high deductible plan, I’d hit the deductible within a month or two, I’m significantly more interested in where the out of pocket maximum ends up.
![]() 11/02/2018 at 15:23 |

I’d recommend getting it checked out sooner rather than later. Might be overkill, but if it is broken, you want to make sure it’s set right before it starts to heal.

These plates have a nice lip for grabbing them and I would’ve grabbed the plate differently
These bastards have barely any lip and from where I was grabbing them was an awkward angle and such. I will now be way more aware for a while on foot placement.
![]() 11/02/2018 at 15:53 |
|
but they come with a built in handle all around. Still. I can see how it might be awkward grabbing them from a stack
No lip bastards!

We do the most expensive plan because the out of pocket max is the lowest...but getting to that point is the fun part. Too much volatility and too much disincentive for visiting the doc.
Thankfully my kids’ pediatrician is only $50 for a visit (plus labs) while my grownup doctor starts at about $140...
With an HSA and some company bonus money, it’s not too terrible. I just don’t like uncertainty over healthcare costs. And I’ll pay a higher premium for predictability.
![]() 11/02/2018 at 16:09 |

Yeah, it was just an awkward angle and not thinking about it. Happened so fast. I didn't even see it happen, was speeding the weight off the peg and BAM all the pain.

Don’t know. Decided not to go to doctor. Hurts even less today
