Update 11/13 : CBell04 sent a box of PC goodies (arriving today) and I’m gearing up for a next step of trading! From wh at I know, it’s a few sticks of ram and three or so processors ranging from an i5 to a core 2 quad.
Any initial interest for next trade steps from oppo land?

Initial story 11/02 :

I am on a mission to do something I haven’t done in years - trade things.

Starting with the OG story line of a paperclip and wanting to see what I can “trade up” in to.

This bad boy is roughly 4" long (quarter for scale) and ready to hold some papers together.

Would have to be long term numbers here - theoretically the end result is something with enough value to justify the upfront shipping costs.

I’ve done this a couple of times. Though I think we started with an egg. One time on the introductory weekend of a study association we started with 5 groups each of which had an egg, and we ended up with enough furnuture to fill a livingroom. Which we then lit on fire at the end of the evening, because we were drunk...

I’m I’m on a Disney vacation right now but I legit have some old sticks of 1 gig ram and a couple  i5 processors and dual core processors I will gladly trade to get the mission rolling

I must add the disclaimer that we were all still slightly intoxicated from drinking the 2 previous  days. So maybe that helps with convincing people to trade you stuff?

100%. all used but working. We trade them out at work to see If it resolves an issues and it almost never does. Never exchanged any info before because Im scared of the internet but shoo t me your email or a fresh made up one and I’ll send them your way asap Monday when I’m back on the job. I’ll stuff the cheapest shipping package full of pc junk and you can go wild.

Hmm, I can give you Radeon HD 2900 Pro (all the bigness and noise and heat of a high end card with none of the performance), except that I’m too lazy and cheap to s hip it, and don’t really need a giant paperclip.

I’ve done this before, but only on a small scale. Within one class in high school, I went from a broken pen to a large bag of Halloween candy. Not bad for an hour of bugging my classmates. (This was the last day of class before finals, so we were free to study and/or goof off. I aced the final regardless.)

Edit: and yes, the candy was pretty old. I don’t know why someone still had it in her backpack.

I have so many old computer pieces, lol... I wish I could do a Bender (from Futurama episode “Overclockwise” ) and find a wa y to magically add all the old cores in to improve the overall performance.
