I know VW doesn’t make the best cars, but it is hard to find a fuel-efficient hatchback or wagon with a panoramic sunroof.
In particular, the 2.5L gas engine. Is it any good? Keeping a VW in good condition can be scary.
GM didn’t sell too many Astras over here, which would probably be the most economical car with that feature.
Hyundai’s sunroofs have been exploding lately, with no fix in sight. So the Elantra GT and Kia Soul are out.
Most of the other cars with the feature are huge expensive-to-keep-running big SUV’s with 14 mpg.
But You can get a non-diesel Mk5 Jetta wagon with the panoramic sunroof at a decent price.

Hyundais and Kias in general are exploding lately.
I don’t know your budget, but the Venza is a good car that has a lot of space and can easily be found for under $15,000 with a panoramic roof.

Yeah, the Venza is awesome! It’s a Camry wagon. I just recently remembered it existed.
It is also being considered, of course.

Oh, that comment reminded me: there are lots of cheaper Toyotas with panoramic roofs in Toyota’s lineup that get better mileage. The Prius v is an excellent example.

I personally have zero experience with Mk5 Jettas , but TFritch recently advised OC to stay away from them, as they develop a lot of weird issues as they age . He runs an independent foriegn car specialty repair shop, so to my mind he would know. Take that for what it’s worth.

The Prius V’s sunroof doesn’
t actually open. It’s fixed. Same problem with Ford’s C-Max ;

I never see MkV VW anything anymore. I live in an area that loves VW’s and wagons and it’s like I live in a timeline where MkV’s don’t exist. I see plenty IV’s and VI’s, I don’t know what is going on.

I'm a big believer in the 2.5; everything else around it though... Better go with low miles

I’d probably be driving one if they were cheaper new. I suggested the Prius v, but the roof could only be had with an option package on the top-level
Five model, I believe. The Venza, meanwhile, had the roof available for both engines and a variety of packages, making it much easier to find.

VW panoramic sunroofs aren’t that great either.

I have limited experience but my MIL had a manual 2.5 sedan and I really like driving it. It was my first teaste of torque and I liked it. Also drove smooth and was very comfortable

The 2.5 is pretty good. Mine did 75k with no issues. H ad a friend put 200,000 commuting miles on one and another friend who would go 30k-ish miles between oil changes and his went til 150k before he traded it in.

I’d still buy one, just without the panoramic roof. The 2.5 is pretty solid.

I mean, if you want something a bit nicer and German with a pan oramic sunroof the Audi A4 Avant and the E91 328i might be right up your alley.

I remember when it came out being in love with it, and then seeing a Flex and I instantly forgot about the Vebza
