Decided to retire the old Craftsman saw for a much lighter and portable Milwaukee Hackzall. It’s faster and more powerful than the hunky old thing. All you do is twist the part the blade goes in and that’s it! No screw to tighten.

Sears, Roebuck and co. Must be from the late 80's - early 90's?

I dont want to throw it away, so I’ll hang it up in the shed :)

(art or something.... aka hording junk.)

I’ve wondered about those. They look odd but actually more ergonomic than an old sawzall

very easy to hold, and you can grip the motor part for even better control.

Very nice piece of gear you’ve got there.

May as well save the old one as a backup. It's only worth $5-10 anyways.

I had a newer sawzall that had a little lever to lock in the blade, nice quick easy. Something in thew neck broke that allowed the blade to spin around at random and chewed up the flat surface where the blade comes out. The next day, m y father was at his brothers house and there was a garage sale next door and picked up a new (older) sawzall for $10. It has the screw blade lock. While its a PITA, I can;t complain about a free sawzall (my father woudn;t take the $10)
