This beer is amazing btw
Fellow PNWers understand the plight of a car that cannot be cleaned... But all you need are some clean microfiber cloths, paper towels, foaming commercial glass cleaner, covered parking, and beer.
“But master....”
... Oh, and an assistant.
It’s simple really: use the paper towels for the glass, the cloths for the body, and the glass cleaner everywhere! EVERYWHERE. Keep flipping the cloths to the clean parts until they’re all used up. Always check your rags to make sure you’re not pulling chunky debrit across your paint. If you only have a couple on hand like me, take back inside and hose them down in the kitchen sink with hot water. Throw them in the dryer and go back to the garage and work on the glass and drink more beer.
And pet the doggo too.
And hell, clean out the interior, too. Quick run with the vac, some wipes, and it’s almost as good as the day you bought it.
And now for some before and after photos of the paint.
“That’s all well and good, but why not just run to a car wash and save a little time?”
And exit the carwash immediately into the pouring rain? NO. Plus with this strategy, you can drink beer in the comfort of your own garage!
“I—”
BEER, DAMMIT!
“But it’s too cold!”
Buy one of these! So nice.
And there you have it. The pearl-metallic car you bought — because beggars can’t be choosers when shopping for a decent Sportcross — will look less neglected. That is, until the next time you drive it in the rain.

That sounds so wrong, yet looks so nice.
My car is a total mess now because I had to make a few runs to/from my in-laws that live on a fairly long dirt road (better described as a mud bog with some especially-deep puddles). To save me on buying a jack and stands, my FIL insisted I do the wrenching today at his place since we are only like 5-6 minutes away and smarting from the crazy amount of money we’ve spent recently. Depending on which car we take tomorrow to get my wife to the airport, I tentatively plan to hit a spray wash just to blast the caked on mud off my car, then apply a lot of spray on was so I can just spray it off periodically again. I’m excited by the recent warm weather since it means I can apply Rain-X again, so I might go crazy and do all my windows this time.
I sometimes wish it would just rain constantly and very hard for a while so it would just wash the dirt off the roads. Of course all it will do is get the crap that is in/on the road moist enough to adhere to your car.

There is no winning. I love white and pearl on cars, but it’s a minor nuisance at times. At least it’s not black. The swirls, dammit. The swirls!!!

My wife’s solution is fairly practical. She bought a dark grey car. It hides the filth better than anything I’ve seen as long as you are careful not to touch the outside. It doesn’t really show swirls like black and it definitely doesn’t show off the grime like white.
The downside to the dark grey car is that everyone pulls out in front of it as if they can’t see it at all. The car is apparently invisible even with headlights on all the time.
I love the weather here and I love white on cars, but this is a terrible place to keep anything clean, but especially a white car.

If you dont feel like splurging on sprayaway you can just make a mix of the active ingredients. 3 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol.

Good use of today’s garbage weather. I walked a doggo during a brief letup and then fixed a broken washing machine after the drain pump broke in the middle of a load of jeans while full of water. That (cold!) load included two new pairs of dark-wash selvedge being washed for the first time before wearing, so my washing machine now works again, but my hands and arms are faintly blue up to the elbow.

I love it when it rains after I’ve finished, I get to watch the water just run off the car.
Hell, I’m not adverse to cleaning a car in the rain.
A ex-colleagues Fiesta ST3.
It’s all in the sealant.

Bonus round: if your clearcoat is gone, rainx is great for removing oil spots and general grime.

I don’t have anywhere undercover :( Currently I’m sticking with the strategy of not washing it until it finally fucking stops raining. Yknow, in April, or May.

Just a heads up, using glass cleaner on paint will strip away any kind of wax/sealant that is currently on the car. Don’t know if you have anything on there but it will strip it if so.

I only have a common garage in my building, and the car wash is across town.
I have a big squirter bottle of car wash concentrate (diluted), and some of this:
When it gets bad, I spray the car down with the big bottle, wipe it up, then use this. The lubrication seems to avoid most major marks.
I think today is day 13 or 14 of consecutive rain at my place anyway.
