I’m sitting in the dining room with the window open because I’m boiling. Is... is this what it’s like to not live in Toronto any more? I don’t mind it. Any other Oppos feel the same once the middle of winter hits?

I went to Mexico for a New Years trip once. First day, I finished a 400 page book on the beach. I missed sunblock on the back of my hands and tops of my feet. Suffice to say, I was in a lot of pain the rest of the trip, and would rather go skiing than to a beach from here on out.

I was in Australia from Christmas Eve-few days after new years... I went from 95F weather to 5F weather when I got home.

The cold sounds a lot nicer.

(Coming home from Mexico was similar - going from 30 Celsius to -7)

-19? That’s t-shirt weather. I say this as a guy who lives in Georgia but has the cold tolerance of someone living in the Rockies

According to my buddy Keith, anything up to -35 is t-shirt weather. In university, it was -20-something and he was in shorts and a t-shirt. Our professor actually stopped the lecture in disbelief to ask him about it.

As I sit here under the air-con it is 10:20 in the morning and it is 34 degrees C already and 30% humidity. The coolest it got last night was 31.6.

We are supposed to see 42 today. Just the last day in a five day run of hot days. This time though with added humidity as we rarely go above 10% in these conditions...

Winter is good, but Montreal winters are strange with the humidity and the temperature swings. I actually kinda miss Edmonton winters: -30 and so bone dry the ends of your fingers crack, with brilliant blue skies.

I don’t think I could ever live in the Lower Mainland.

Yeah, humid winters are awful. -40 in Ottawa was worse than -40 here, in my opinion.

It is gross. I miss Alberta winter. Cold and dry is my favorite

-20 here can be death.

And don’t get me started on the humidity during the summer heatwaves! My first two summers here nearly killed me.

Hah, yeah. My first summer in Ottawa, I thought “man, this feels like Florida with how humid it is”.

Man, I miss it.

Too humid for that...he says hopefully.

We are moving to a new town at the end of this week. It’s now on the highest level of water restrictions you can get short of the taps running dry and a significant chunk (60,000 hectares/148,000 acres) of the forest nearby turned to ash last week. When the image below was taken it was ‘just’ 17,000 hectares.

“But it’s a dry cold” is what they say around here. which is analagous to “it’s good luck that that pigeon shit on you” what else is there to say.

It nearly got above freezing last week, I seriously considered breaking the motorcycle out. We’re back down to -1 today, but compared to the -25 we had a few weeks ago, I’m not going to complain.
