Time for two American beauties. G8 or SS which would you buy?
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:02 |
Whichever is manual
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:04 |
ISF because reasons.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:05 |
SS - I think it looks a little better, personally.
Eeyore FTW!
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:05 |
The G8 is frankly an awkward design, but the SS is both generic and makes me nurse my irrational dislike of bowtiedom by being so very bowtie, and I’ve liked the *idea* of the not-a-kidney Poncho grill design language (if not always the execution) since childhood.
So, the G8 it is.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:06 |
G8 GXP, because who doesn’t like more power.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:07 |
g8
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:08 |
I starred this even though you are wrong
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:09 |
I’m wrong for all the right reasons.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:09 |
G8 definitely, don’t even need to consider it.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:12 |
The SS, in this color.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:12 |
G8, I always had a soft spot for doomed Pontiac.
And hood vents.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:13 |
The SS, but reluctantly. The power and muscle car-ness of the SS is appealing, but its invisible design and high price aren’t. The G8 is too old now and doesnt have the amenities I’m used to. I’d rather any SRT Charger over the SS.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:16 |
“American”
That said, G8 GXP.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:17 |
This is the correct answer.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:19 |
Mostly because I am about to get one and it’s a V8 too. I’ve always thought the Pontiac’s were the ultimate sleepers because I can’t even figure out when one does have the Corvette V8... They are indescribable from the normal ones because I haven’t taken the 2 minutes until now to find the differences but I would go for the SS.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:20 |
The g8 looks sharper and more modern, I’d go with that.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:21 |
Purple SS
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:21 |
We’ll now refer to Australia as South America.
I hope I’m not overlooking anything.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:22 |
The answer is C.
Holden Commodore Motorsport Edition VF Series II, manual 6.2 V8.
Because manual,
and steering wheel on the correct side,
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:22 |
Looks good to me!
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:22 |
I’d take the VF over the VE any day.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:23 |
I love Regal Peacock Green so much I made it for the SS (and other VFs) in Forza Horizon 3.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:23 |
SS is the only correct answer.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:24 |
SS
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:25 |
i test drove a manual and automatic and the stick makes all the difference. The auto didnt feel all that much different than the impala SS. the manual felt special, like there was beast just under the surface.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:26 |
G8. Unless it’s a LWB then either the Buick Park Avenue or HSV Grange.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:30 |
Both of them and yet neither one.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:37 |
This is a pointless poll. To buy one is to buy the other; they are both a holden commodore.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:37 |
The SS with the bow ties replace by a Red Arrowhead
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:51 |
Then its settled
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:51 |
The only way to tell a V8 G8 GT from a regular G8 is the quad exhaust tips out back and the GT badging.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:54 |
Yeah that’s not enough difference. I thought they were really cool when I was younger but if it just looks like a V6 Pontiac that’s not good. ISF and M3 are better formula unless that’s all you wanted was a major sleeper.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 17:59 |
Yea there really isn’t a difference. They both have hood scoops too. The only other difference aside from equipment, leather etc is that the GT gets different wheels as well. Even with the GXP there isn’t much difference aside from the wheels and GXP seats inside.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 18:00 |
I stared this for your noble honesty and being so civil in disagreement.
Also, you are wrong.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 18:01 |
*mechanically desperately wishes the Taurus SHO was actually a competitor to either*
![]() 01/26/2018 at 18:05 |
or D: Maloo
![]() 01/26/2018 at 18:07 |
If I am picking the non sequitur...
![]() 01/26/2018 at 18:08 |
G8 GXP (manual) > SS Manual> G8 GT> SS Auto
![]() 01/26/2018 at 18:21 |
Jarod’s post has got me looking at cars for sale in Australia.
Just this moment looking at this:-
![]() 01/26/2018 at 19:12 |
I’d go with the SS because modern features.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 19:18 |
Certainly the Pontiac.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 19:19 |
either, as they’re great Holdens
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:15 |
I do like me some Lexus speed.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:18 |
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I have always enjoyed the styling of the g8 and even the baby brother g6
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:18 |
Power is life
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:20 |
That strong of an opinion? To me they seem pretty close
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:20 |
A deep green will never not look pretty
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:21 |
In all honesty I think I’d take a Charger over either of these
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:22 |
Excellent point!
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:22 |
They made it in purple?
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:23 |
I want a Maloo so bad. They should import them to the US
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:25 |
The secret answer then
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:27 |
Eh yes and no. That’s kinda like saying a 68 Mustang is the same as a 68 Cougar.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:29 |
That is an excellent point
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:29 |
I would as well. Looks more of the muscle car part.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:30 |
Still annoys me it isn’t manual but a four door with paddle shifters and almost 500hp would still be fun.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:43 |
Yes, the Pontiac looks much better. I think the hood is the only sheet metal change, but it makes a difference.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:44 |
Its so big and old school that I can forgive that it doesnt have a manual. I kinda wouldnt want a manual in something that big.
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:47 |
SS because more modern and more colors
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:49 |
SS with the Holden exterior bits fitted. Yaaaasssss
![]() 01/26/2018 at 20:50 |
Sure did!
![]() 01/26/2018 at 23:30 |
I bought an SS so I guess SS?
![]() 01/27/2018 at 01:28 |
The G8 is better looking imo. I’d consider going even further back and getting a GTO though.
![]() 01/27/2018 at 02:07 |
++ ISF
![]() 01/27/2018 at 05:19 |
There is a company in the U.S. that makes them from parts sourced from Oz, with an American Chevy doner. I think they are called American Utes or something.
![]() 01/27/2018 at 07:44 |
Well... Yeah, they kind of are. One is not qualitatively different than the other. The SS and G8 are body kits for the same car. Your commodore can have a Chevy badge, or a Pontiac badge, but no matter which you chose, you’ll be driving a Commodore at the end of it.
![]() 01/27/2018 at 12:50 |
I have seen those fitted to a couple SS cars
![]() 01/27/2018 at 12:51 |
You’re in rarified air as an SS owner
![]() 01/27/2018 at 18:27 |
More like saying a 72 Mustang is the same as a 68 Cougar. They are a generation apart.
![]() 01/27/2018 at 18:29 |
GTO. The AUDM to USDM precursor to both of them.
![]() 01/28/2018 at 02:04 |
In what state of America were these built?
![]() 01/28/2018 at 10:10 |
Aussie built with a nice American made suit on top
![]() 01/29/2018 at 05:20 |
American as a kangaroo having a barbie.
Strewth, if it were my money, the G8 is a cheaper deal for the near-same car.
Give me one with the steering wheel on the side it left ‘Straya with though.
![]() 02/17/2018 at 08:57 |
Hmmmm....two basically identical cars, and even assuming the G8 wasn’t the base V6 which it appears to be, the SS has the much nicer interior.
This is not a contest.
