In no particular order

1. A clean Panther body. On a similar note. What do you think would be the best bang for the buck mod to wake these things up? I always hear that there slow and lazy, but could a shift kit or cam make them quite a bit peppier? I know the PI models had shorter gears, but idk how much of a difference.

2. Dodge Charger. Perferably with a V8

3. W-body Impala

4. Older 3 or 5 series

In case you didn’t get the gist. I want my next car to have more than 4 cyl, preferably RWD, and not a Honda or even Japanese.

For #1: Gears. My old p71 had 3.55s in the back and it was noticably peppier than my current one with 3.27 (though now I’ve got limited slip so it’s worth it). I also recommend heavier shocks and police (or better yet, addco) sway bars. They’re not fast, but they’re not slow either. The torque is good.

gut the vic. get rid of all the dead weight that there is, from the door cards, to the carpet,the other seats, to whatever plastic liners that you can pry off. you could scrub a good 400lbs if you tried.......

Hey, the Impala isn’t a bad cruiser. And for all of these cars except the Bimmer. The only real benefit of RWD for them is that the engine is mounted longitudinally.

Yeah, it’s a big difference. I think civvy versions of the Vic got 2.73 gears.

As for the Panther, let the exhaust rot away. They sound hilariously mean with no mufflers that it doesn’t matter how fast you actually go. It will always feel like your moving a good 50% faster than actuality.

My grandfather’s daily driver is a 2000 Lincoln Town car. It’s the most comfortable car I’ve ever been in, by far. And it moves pretty good for what it is, too. Only modification is the ole’ holes in the airbox (which, yes, I know, doesn’t actually do much, but it makes it sound good under wide open throttle.)
