On one hand, we (IT people) want to give you all the access to all the frigging websites so you stop bugging us. Do what you want. When you get busted for watching inappropriate videos and get fired... it’s your problem.

On the other hand, when you click on that attachment from unknown sender and infect entire company with cryptolocker, all you will say is sorry and go home at the end of your shift. We, however, will sit in that office till cows come home and we restore shit from backups. We don’t want to be assholes or the internet police, but see it from our side.

For the most part, we don’t care all that much. However, when we know there is a bad virus going around, we gasp and want to beat your fingers off those keyboards and mice with a brick.

Man, there’s nothing I hate more that when someone DOESN’T forewarn me they’re having stuff shipped to work.

I recommend people DO have stuff shipped to work if they can, because mail theft and thangs, but when I suddenly get a pallet of crap or a stack of tires mounted on wheels.... I like to know in advance.

Oh and there was the one guy at my last job that had BULLETS shipped to work without telling me.

I just want my IT to fix my monitor issues instead of just throwing their hands up after installing an updated driver. Must be a bad docking station for the third times in three months.

Is it a loose cable? Does wiggling it help?

I don’t know what type of issue you are having, but most of the time, reinstalling driver and wiggling the cable fixes 99% of issues.

Also try eliminating things between monitor and the source of video... is it an old bad cable? Does it work fine without the docking station? Does the setup work fine on a different computer?

Brand new monitors/cables, new docking station created a static/blinking screen. “Stole” a docking station from a coworker and now the screen won’t wake back up. Switched cables. Setup works fine for everyone else. Many people have the same laptop/screen/docking station combo.

I get a blinking static screen or a screen that won’t come back up.

The annoying thing is that is seems to be the same input port on both docking stations. The left one causes all the problems.

Might be a bad video card or video card jack. Anyway to switch it or is it integrated?

If it’s integrated, might need to swap out a motherboard which is bigger project than swapping a cable, but still doable. If the machine is under warranty, might be able to use that.

From what my IT tells me, the docking station has it’s own video card separate from the laptop. The laptop just got a new hard drive. Laptop is a few years old.

I think cycling the power on the screen is the easiest option, but so annoying.

I just want IT to diagnose it correctly and fix it. Not have me call and complain four times.

If IT could assure me that would fix the problem, I would consider it. But if they don’t know the actual problem, it might resurface with a new one.

Was upgrading my bos’s computer the other other day, and accidentally saw naked pics of him and another woman not his wife. WHAT HAS BEEN SEEN CANNOT BE UNSEEN. GROSS. I actually really like my job, my boss and his wife, so I just want to forget about it!
