Its apparently not Kia’s fault that Android auto works with all the reliability of an eastern block vehicle, but its google itself.
Apparently my two year old nexus runs a newer OS than my essential phone, thus it suits android auto much better than it. I did a short test and it definitely has much better connectivity than this phone.
Chances are I’ll just keep the nexus connected to the car and either get a cheap data plan for the voice commands to work or use personal hotspot.
But if you think Nexus is the day’s saviour, it aint. Its battery still lasts about four hours and I can’t use it daily because of that.
It’s still the best phone I’ve had.

I’d say crack it wide open and replace the batt-
What? You can’t do that to modern phones? Dang.

Yeah, but at least its harder for them to give you cancer and also work quite well in other areas!

sure you can, it’s just fiddly as fuck

The Nexus 5x and 6p got Oreo while no OEM seems to care about updating or releasing phones running Oreo.

Is oreo bad?
I like it, it did slow my 6p a bit, but that’s it.

I haven’t had any issues on my Pixel and haven’t heard about any. Android OEMs are just really bad at software support.

I suspect so. Its a dumb situation to find myself in because Kia removed a lot of the infortaiment features and replaced it with car play and Android auto.
Which means that my car will be burdened with a phone just because some programers weren’t hired to actually program the updates.
I think its where apple has android cornered: OS support and updating.
And I also thought the PH-1 would be a nexus spiritual successor but its been a “meh” phone.

I was considering moving to an iPhone but the Pixels has really won me over.

I find the Iphone kind of dumb... Like. Its okay just not enough options for me.
I like pixels but I found the pixel 2 way to conservative for my taste (designwize)

I don’t really mind how the design of my phone looks. I would much rather have solid software to use every day over a pretty design.

I don’t think it was worth the price for the specs.
But I’ve been proven wrong, it is a great phone and instead of buying this I should’ve saved up for a pixel 2

The Pixel 2s were a bit of a miss but I think the Pixel 1 was well worth the price. My only regret is not getting the 128gb option. I have been tight on space on my 32gb model for a while.

I guess I’ll have to wait. I just want a pure android phone, no dumb TouchWiz or anything of that nature.
