Welcome to real estate in Wichita Kansas (well, Derby technically). In that neighborhood there are houses over twice that size on the market for $200k. $300k in Wichita gets you into McMansion territory. You can get a serviceable starter home (2bed, 1000sq ft) for under $75k fairly easily here.

Of course, average salaries here are utter shit to compensate so... yeah.
