This may be the one time you hear this from me, but there was one thing I liked about the Windstar. Whereas the Mazda5 makes me pull off panels on the center console, hang upside down to get the two pieces of the cabin air filter installed through a tiny little opening, carefully stacking and interlinking the two, in the Windscar I only had to open the hood and I had easy and quick access to that filter. All cars should make it that simple.

Step 1: Drop engine
Step 2: Find broken part
Step 3: FInd out broken part has been NLA since the Nixon administration.
Step 4: Convince yourself that you can “fabricate” a replacement.
Step 5: Fabricate it over the course of several years.
Step 5.5: Wait. Wait some more. Wait many more years.
Step 6: Get part.
Step 7: Install and reassemble.
