Normally I just drive through on the PCH during my commute and don’t really take the time to appreciate it. Sure, I see the beauty, feel the nice sea breeze, and just take it in a bit. But thats not the same as stopping for a bit to just watch/hear the waves crash and really take a look around. Something about the ocean is always relaxing to me (as long as its not a crowded tourist trap). It is just nice to take a stroll and enjoy everything at a relaxed pace. I didnt have long to take it in as I had places to be but it sure is a treat that I need to remember to appreciate more often.
Overall, it reminds me that I really am living in a paradise now, despite the fires, mudslides, threat of earthquakes, hellscape traffic, and masses of stupid people. It also reinforces the fact that I need to do some more hiking to appreciate the natural beauty and escape from the crappy stuff. Make this your notification that stopping to enjoy the small things around you is always worth the time.

Haha thanks, it needs some paint and I need to actually use it for a track day. But yeah I am still not bored of the Miata even with the STi being so much nicer and having double the horsepower.

In the second picture, that is Pt Mugu rock in the distance. And I have seen a ton of people hiking up the sand dune thing in the last picture. Google maps image is almost exactly the same as my photo lol
Just quite a bit greener on the mountains for sure!

The ocean is soothing, for sure. Usually when I’m extra stressed I’ll go for a run and stop on the pier for a few minutes to take it all in. The sound of the waves crashing, the slight vibration it causes on the pier, the salty sea air, etc., always puts me in a better mood.

cali is THE best place to own a bike.
lane splitting, great weather a lot of the time, awesome roads, the chance to just fuck off out of the city and carve canyons for a few hours is great,

Oh nice. At some point I’ll do that drive. I haven’t been to Southern CA in a long time. Kind of hate LA so much that I avoid it.

I think the problem for me is that its hard to motivate to go to the ocean. I think about what am going to do when I get there, go get sandy and get crapped on by a seagull? Its hard to remember that its just about soaking it in and relaxing. Casually driving by is a lot easier to decide that oh yeah I can just stop here and experience it. I also find it much easier to appreciate here on the West coast versus back home in NJ since there are places that don’t have houses next to it here.

If I could get past the whole fear of death thing, I am sure I would agree haha. It’s something I would consider in quieter places for sure but traffic in LA feels dangerous enough with a cage around me with seat belts and airbags. I sure am jealous of the freedom though!

That thing has a name??? That’s sad I didn’t know that.
And my sister used to run up and down that hill when she was playing basketball in high school and college. She’s a boss.

Yeah I see all sorts of people up there if I get out of work just before sunset. Seems to be the popular thing to do. I figured it had to have a name but I hadn’t looked it up until now
