Room for all my crap!
A totally normal rambler! 3-bedroom, 2-bath, 3-car garage, and a bigly paved driveway. Still unaffordable for me though...
3 good 5 me
Not overdone.
Open floor is the only way to go, maaaan.
Pretty nice 5' x 5' corner shower

“Let me be a reasonable family man!” Dr. Zoidberg shouts from the window of his reasonable family car.

New construction in the PNW that’s... tasteful? Charming, even? I don’t know what to believe anymore...

That looks like it is crammed onto a very small lot, with a lot of “high end” fixtures and features to justify a high asking price. I shudder to think what that house costs out on the west coast.

How much?

I don’t see anything in this home I would ever call high end. This is a very inoffensive spec. Lot size isn’t bad, especially compared to most new construction.

Ones closer to the entry went for $500,000, these ones tucked in the back with long driveways and a better view eastward fetched closer to $565,000
These numbers seem to startle a lot of people, but these are probably among the most affordable new homes you can find in this area...

Don’t worry, guy. I’ll post something else to irk you soon enough.

Is that blacktop (right next to the driveway) the neighbor’s driveway?

I do not like this house. Maybe the mantelpiece is ok? Otherwise, tear it down and try again.

Indeed... Sadly, I don’t think tasteful, timeless design is going to catch on in residential architecture any time soon.

That would be in the $300k range here if the lot is decent. Maybe a bit less, though prices have been going up so who knows.

That’s technically the main neighborhood road. There are two more homes back there.

I’ll get right on that

See, that’s what I thought at first. But I dismissed the idea, thinking that if that was the road, then the driveway would have another opening, closer to the garage.

That doesn’t seem crazy to me. There are parts of Chicagoland where this house would fetch that.
I can’t afford it either though.

We’re going to be buying a new place this year so I’ve been looking at all of the listings. I fell in love with this garage.
Unfortunately the house and land attached are $1M. That takes some doing in this area.

I’m just saying, high end in “quotes”. Stacked stone and what appears to be cement board exterior, versus brick/vinyl, which is standard spec in N.W. Ohio. Quartz/Granite counters, not laminate, tile back-splash and semi-custom shower surround. Pocket door into laundry room. Something like this, if it was between 2,000 - 2,500 sq.ft. in size, with a basement, would probably bring somewhere around $250,000 - $300,000 depending on which suburban area it was located in. Some of the higher end homes of this type are bringing $400,000+ if they are very good quality with large finished basements. Apparently, all the retiring baby boomers are cashing out their 401K’s to buy their dream house.

That garage is nicer and bigger than my entire house.
![]() 01/10/2018 at 23:58 |

The other side is just as big too. It dwarfs my house even without the area with the storage cabinets.

Mmm, I see what you mean. I do see p-lam tops every now and then, but it’s typically “unacceptable” to put in the kitchen of a new home due to current prices, so you’ll find them on vanities instead. The stone face is out of place, half the homes in this plat don’t have them. It’s probably a buyer option.

Doesn’t sound half bad.
I hate that I’m saying that

It looks like another garage is being pulled out of the side of the garage

It’s definitely not charming, but at least it’s not actively hideous!

That sounds surprisingly affordable for these parts... “AFFORDABLE,” with the scariest of square quotes.

What’s your guess a house like this sell for up there? My family moved to AZ in 99' and this is about the size/garage space of my current house.

This one is nearing $575k

The truth hurts, maaaaaaaan. I only see sub-$400k new homes in the outskirts of Monroe, and they’re not particularly large either.
![]() 01/11/2018 at 22:19 |

This looks like a mid 60s house that has been updated via careful cladding for today’s tastes. Not offensive.
575K? Aint on the eastside.

Wow. CA prices almost. Mine was about 1/3 that haha
