The Octavia up top is pre-facelift.

Kinja'd!!!

It should be interesting to see what the next Superb will look like since the designer of the Superb now works for BMW.

I just hope VWAG gives it a nice potent engine, make it a perfect Q car!

Those days are gone. No more 3.6 V6.

The largest they do is 2.0TSi 278bhp.

My 1.4TSi 124bhp I had in the Mk2 Superb had was increased to 148bhp in the Mk3 when the 1.4TSi became the 1.4TSi ACT. The 1.4TSi ACT will be replaced with that of the Karoq and Kodiaq, the 1.5TSi 148bhp.

We still get the 3.6 in the NMS Passat on this side of the pond...but the 2.0 tsi makes about the same power, doesn’t it? ,

The 3.6 V6, 256bhp in the Superb Mk2 was a detuned engine from the Passat R36.

The current 2.0TSi comes in 216bhp and 276bhp.

Is the 276hp also awd?

In North America the 3.6 has 280hp

Ye’, the 276bhp is 4x4.

Both the 216bhp and 278bhp are DSG only, as was the 3.6 V6.

In Europe you can also get the Mk3 in 1.8TSi in manual and auto with 178bhp.

I’m happy with the 1.4TSi ACT 148bhp and get 50mpg(UK) (41mpg(US)) rather than 40mpg(UK) (33mpg(US)) of the larger engine.

Huh, a gasoline engine in the UK... Who would’ve thought.

Do you have to pay the London congestion charge?

All car/vehicles up to 3.5tons has to pay congestion charge fees if they exceed 75g/Km CO2 (mine is 121g) but is not an issue as I’m at the exact opposite end of England (couple of miles short of Scotland) some 320 miles away.

I would be exempt anyway if I applied for a discount as I have a ‘blue badge’ for my mother and step-father as they are disabled.

They are or have already started putting penalties or charges for driving diesels in a large city.

Many car dealerships are offering big discounts or incentives for trading in pre-2009 diesel cars.

Welp....but I can understand... Perhaps Diesel wont be saved even with AdBlue tech...

Kinja'd!!! Svend > Spanfeller is a twat

Ad-blue is helping a lot with some ad-blue diesels even being exempt but in the past is was all about CO2 which was mostly a petrol car thing and offered large incentives for the last eight years for people to buy diesels. Since dieselgate the tide has turned that modern petrols give off less than the old petrols, give the same mileage or similar to diesels and don’t have the particulates issue diesel has.

Sales of diesels has slumped greatly while governments decide exactly how things are going to proceed.

Plus, petrol/electric hybrids are reducing consumption and emissions quite a lot....

But I think we shouldn’t give up on it, we should be diversifying our choices, service stations should have four or five types of fuels, give the consumers more choice!

After all, diesel is more energy dense than gasoline. If something can be solved related to NOX emissions it is still a promising fuel

Kinja'd!!! Svend > Spanfeller is a twat

For me the electric thing is while batteries have improved greatly, they still aren’t the best or the safest (especially fire safety) and electric cars are moving the emissions from the vehicle exhaust to a large power station. Also transitioning from fuel to power, then to power line, the vehicle. A lot of that energy is being lost.

I’m all for electric but having installed solar panels on our house roof and seeing how much it’s cut our electricity bills it’s hard to understand with all the sheer billions of acres of roof top space why more solar cells, wind power and tidal power aren’t being utilised more.

Yes, but power stations are far more efficient than ICE engines as a rule.

Renuable sources are not used for the same reason that Aberdeen is so rich: petroleum still runs the world...
