The 4th gen Pajero (Montero for you North Americans) - I really like these things. Diesel or Gas engine pumping an adequate 200 torquey HPs or 250 thirsty HPs, 5 Speed auto, rear and central diff locks, 7 seats and also very cheap.
Also incredibly reliable and sturdy, available in SWB 3 door version and plenty comfy.

The fourth gen really just looks like a facelifted third gen

That’s all it is and it’s all I really wanted as an upgrade. The 3rd gen just looks a little off without mild mods.

I feel like they all look slightly wrong without mods. I think mine will be better once I get bigger tires on it

Luckily on the 1st and 2nd gens it’s easy to get some bigger tires on them. The 4th gen is geared more toward mall crawlers but still has the capability which I think is cool

aka Mitsubishi Shogun here in the U.K.
They’ve head two different rears.
Current model, later ones.
Earlier ones.
Prior to the current three and five door current Shoguns.
there was the (up to) 2007 Shogun Sport.
In 2.5 turbo diesel (manual only) or 3.0 petrol (auto only).
There was the Shogun Pinin available in three and five door, designed by Pininfarina.
The (up to) 2006, petrol only 1.8 and 2.0 manual and auto.

The Highways Agency, Highways England use them a lot for patrols on the motorway and dragging stuff from the road when necessary.

The Pajero was popular here, once. Then it just faded away. Same thing happened to the various Jeep models.

We have all of those in Brazil too, but as Pajeros. And the Pinin is called the TR4 here.

Interesting about the Shogun name. In most of the world the big one is the Pajero and your Pinin (and later models) were the Shogun.
In the US the big one is the Montero and Pinin was Montero Sport.

Does the rear diff lock on these? On the 3rd gen in the US, the 01-02 the center diff locks and the rear diff is an LSD, 03-06 has open rear diff + traction control.

The U.K. is quite quirky when it comes to cars using different names, specs, names of specs, different suspension settings for U.K. as opposed to European roads, etc...
