Seems like the police package is the one to get since it already comes with all this stuff you would need to get otherwise
Police Package - Engine/Brakes/Springs/Trans/Tires/Oil/Engine Cooler

Are these a model before catalytic converters so they’ll run good on regular gas?

I’ve been eyeing these at my local auction. That’s a damn good price. Most of them go for about that but with higher miles. Also the charger ppvs are destined for gas mileage. 320 HP I think could be wrong on the HP but it’s still faster than my cvpi.

The first one is miss leading the PPV can come with either the pentastar V6 or the Hemi. And they are the same as civilians. But it does get upgraded brakes, heavier springs, and exterior engine oil, and trans fluid coolers. It just needs a trailer hitch

That seems like low miles for a police car to me.

320 has to be for for the V6. The Hemi makes about 390 in a regular R/T.

It kinda amazes me how quickly the Charger seems to have fallen out of favor as a cop car around me. Madison police are all Explorers and Tauruses now.

It depends on how they’re used. There are cases like my small bedroom community where they still have some patrol units that are more than 10 years old, simply because the town itself is only a few square miles (and they only make so many trips to transport folks to the county jail). However, those units have many thousands of hours of run time that isn’t really reflected in the odometer.
Also, motor pool cars for folks to drive while their regular units are being serviced or repaired in larger departments may not rack up mileage real fast, and the same for cars assigned to non-patrol personnel. This particular car looks more like it was equipped for for administrative use. That would be more like something assigned to higher ranking command staff or folks like detectives, who might not actually accumulate mileage on their units all that quickly.

The police department here pretty much gets what the Dealership wants to sell them. It’s both a Ford and Chrysler dealership. And when I worked there the just asked our new car Manager to order 2 sedans, 3 SUVs and a pick. As cheap as he could. I actually got to drive one of the 3.7l Explorers, it did have quite a bit more pep than a regular 3.5. I wonder is they still use the 3.7 on police packages not that it’s gone from the F-150, and Mustang.

I’m actually ok with them ditching Chargers for Tauruses because the Chargers blended in with all the civilian Chargers out there, and I hardly ever see a civilian Taurus. But Chargers in general seem to have quickly fallen off the map in general, I hardly see them anymore, whether in cop or civilian form.
Of course, that was more than made up for by the glut of cop Explorers plus the thousands of non-cop ones, especially the damn Explorer Sport with the blacked out grille that looks way too similar to the cop version.

It depends on the department, budget and age of the vehicle. Where I’m at its usually five years and 120,000 miles, whichever one is reached first.

Huh weird that it has less power. Maybe it’s tuned more for torque

That’s to cover the hacked out center console where all the cop stuff was attached.
