One time I was driving my PT Cruiser down the road and a sparrow used my car to kill a hawk. The smaller bird dove right in front of my car and the larger bird was not able to make the same maneuver and was laid out on the road.

Ooof, that’s equally impressive and disturbing.

At my first job out of college (1995) a guy I knew at work had an Escort GT. The factory where we worked was in a very rural area. He lived nearby, so he’d go home for lunch pretty often. One day he came into the office after lunch looking obviously disturbed and told us we’d have to come out to see his car, because we wouldn’t believe him otherwise.

He had hit a turkey on his way back to the office. It hit dead center in his grille and had become embedded, head first, in the plastic trim. There was no blood - it was just hanging limply out of the grille. He wasn’t what you’d call a country boy, so he was hesitant to grab it and pull it out for fear it might still be alive (and quite angry). I am sure he was hoping someone in the group would do it for him so he wouldn’t have to do it himself.

Of course, guys being guys, we all walked away chuckling and left him to deal with the corpse.
