One day into 2018’s work year and I walk into work...with every smoke alarm going off. I call the alarm system, get put on hold for 15 minutes, then get told they can’t do anything as it’s “obviously” a circuit that needs to be reset. I go to the circuit breaker, turn EVERYTHING off...and the alarms still continue to go. The buildings manager isn’t picking up his phone so I called my boss who said “uh......shit.” The fire department’s coming...someone take me home.

This happened to my brother on a job he was a contractor for. He called the school district contact Andy they said the alarm didn’t go to an outside center, just made noise. I think he was able to turn the breaker off for it.
Also a lot of times there is a battery back up if the alarm loses power.

Unfortunately, fire alarms can be on a separate circuit with some form of battery backup. This prevents faulty wiring from causing a short and starting a fire without anyone knowing.
Look at the bright side, nowhere to go but up from here!

Just got sick, dumped-ish, and my project at work is on extremely thin ice schedule-wise. Yeah, gonna be a fun year.

We took every smoke alarm down, changed the batteries and finally silence...

I’ve been back in the job search for about the same period. I had two offers to go back to the oilfield, I’m starting to regret not taking one. Sounds like your search isn’t too much better.

Great, the whole building could be ablaze and the only response they have is: I’m sorry, we cant do anything for you. Nice.

But wait there’s more! Literally since that part, I got a text from my ex that caused the worst part of my life (luckily it said she’s moving so.. Yay?), Then a text from an ex that wants to still do stuff. What. The. Hell.

Well if she’s moving at least you won’t see her around anymore. And to the other ex, that’s just a straight up nope

I’ve had a few interviews, one was very serious but I didn’t make the final cut. It’s rather annoying

That’s about the most frustrating feeling ever. I’ve been through a lot of that.
