I thinking of doing a long number heavy post on how much my Juke cost me in 2017. Fuel, maintenance, payments, insurance, everything. I will atleast take me a few hours to write. I rarely (never) do long posts. Would you give a shit about it, I don’t want spend all the time working on it to get a “meh” response to it.

What has your fuel consumption been like? And is it a CVT?

I don’t wish to be brutal but I think if it was January 2017 and it was the Fiesta ST, there may be some takers but the Nissan Juke didn’t/doesn’t appeal to many on here. I mean the Mustang appealed to some for a short time but even then it was V8'ers saying the EcoBoost wasn’t a proper Mustang engine, and EcoBoosters saying the engine was a good balance from sporty and daily driver, etc...

I know you love your Juke as much as I love my Superb, but unfortunately there aren’t many on here than gave them more than passing looks and passing comments.

Sorry mate. I feel like crap for saying that.

OPPO is a great place where we love our cars but not many of our cars appeal to each other for more than the basic info.

I could be wrong, I hope I am, I just don’t want you feeling down after doing all the hard work you intend to put in.

I much rather you be honest, thanks. The Juke with a manual is very niche, I don’t expect people too like it. I expect “wow, that’s ugly as my 3rd ex wife.”

I know but sometimes being honest comes across as being a dick.

Maybe if it was a comparison of how it fared against another car going the same runs, etc... such as a family car of similar age, or similar type but older or something.

I’m the same. My honesty comes across as being an asshole.

I find that running cost writeups that focus on gasoline prices, insurance premiums, and basic maintenance (oil and tires, maybe pads) don’t make for great reads.

Posts about major repairs or major maintenance items, upgrades, or cosmetic stuff? Yeah I like all that.

But fuel/oil/insurance are basic necessary costs that don’t say much about the vehicle itself. It just shows you have a vehicle. I can get a quote from my agent or look up average Juke MPGs on fuelly if I really cared.

Basically, less is more and cut the fluff.

Everything, down too the cent. I’ll break it up into sections. Fuel & maintenance will be one section, then Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4. Then the finical side (insurance, payments) will be their own section do you can skip past that if you please. I’ll also break it down into Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4. Everything will have sub categories too. 2017 had no exciting repairs(just general maintenance),  but oh 2018 will be.

I find that sort of stuff interesting, because I don’t generally factor ancillary costs when I go car shopping. However, with that said, I’d almost be afraid to read it, as I’d then realize how much money I’ve thrown at my daily beater (Nissan Cube, ugh).

I say go for it if you want to. I’d probably at least peruse it, stroke my beard slowly, and go “Hmm...interesting, interesting...”

If you were on a Juke centric forum this would probably be taken very positively. But this is not the place for such a write up, IMO. But that is what it is.

Maybe if you tied it in to the purchase cost of the car and compared it to similar cars using like fuelly numbers or osmething?

The fact that you even asked the question demonstrates your respect for the audience...so you get a star no matter what.

But the honest answer is no...I wouldn’t be that interested.

Perhaps if we were allowed to guess though... think NP or CP style. We’d play along...

Like others have said, it might not be the most interesting thing to read, but honestly, I’d put an effort into it if it had been written up decently.

I dont have much trouble with Juke, I just despise people that post meaningless photos on a nearly daily basis of their car. Were not on photositelock ffs.

Id much rather read a detailed report on how your car does in the fuel consumption department rather than see another meaningless picture of some sort of Juke, pulled from the internet.

I’d be interested, but I’d likely not spend enough time reading and enjoying it too justify your effort.

I vote do it.. not that I’m interested in Q3 spending habits of an atypical Juke owner as much as I think of we stop posting interesting things from our point of view on different cars, including the ones we know and love, and end up discussing TG episodes and what 10 cars are most best and where can I buy a travel mug that plugs into 12v while charging my devices we all might as well be on the FP..

Besides - what else are you going to do?

I say as long as you write something interesting. It doesn’t matter if it’s about a Juke. If I only read about cars I’d buy, I’d have been bored of this place two years ago.

Don’t focus on what others think, do it for you. Go for it.

Personally I prefer not to figure out how much my transportation costs, as then I would feel as though I need to actually do something to manage the costs. Financial ignorance can be a wonderful thing.

The cost of every lightbulb!

The cost of every time you use the windshield washer!!

And the Opportunity Cost of having that motor car vs a Train.

Many people don’t realize how much they actually spend on their cars. When you add up everything (even depreciation, car registration fees, tickets and other stuff), it’s pretty much impossible to spend less than CAD$500/month on a car that is driven daily.

Over the past 10 years, I probably have spent around CAD$60,000 on car-related expenses.
