It’s a lazy, bad habit. Like not using your parking brake because “I have an automatic” or “I usually park on a flat driveway”. ... or not wearing your seat belt, and claiming it’s “OK” because “I’ve never been in an accident”

At least YouTube forces it into a 16:9 format. Vertical videos from Facebook embed in the portrait 9:16 format, and if margins are wide when viewing it, you’ll never see the whole shot, as it’s too tall to fit on your screen.
