Beautiful, aren’t they?

America apparently got out of the race, long time ago.
In a way, this reminds me of the PSA Opel merger.
I think that by allowing mergers like this, the EU authorities are sending a message, a message that the EU genesis, its starting point of French and German cooperation is still there and intact.

Because trains are for communists and don’t in fact reflect positively on the overall health of a society... - Very bitter NJ Transit rider.

CRRC are still a larger company though - and being Chinese they don’t have the same attitude to making profits, being state controlled.

On the buyers’ side in Europe, no rejoicing is to be had. (Quasi-)Monopolies suck.

It’s not the best situation, but it’s better than using a Chinese train.

Yeah, on the train side it’s alright, but they are/were the only two aftermarket suppliers for the onboard parts of ETCS . It’s already extremely expensive (fixed study costs almost equal the price of a base locomotive), and I don’t see that improving after the merger.

I have only gone by train a little, but here in the US it is so goddamn slow!It makes so much more sense to drive anywhere.
