The Malaysian Grand Prix is coming up this weekend, and for the first time they’ve posted a full race, which was a pretty hectic one from 2001:
I never saw Schumacher race in his prime, but it’s unbelievable to see a driver lose well over a minute due to a pitstop issue and come back to win the race, with the lead being stretched to more than 60 seconds before MSC (I just remembered Ralf was still in F1 at the time) took his final pitstop.
Still, even 16 years ago the battle for the lead really wasn’t all that interesting - it was for a little bit due to the unique circumstances of the race but once MSC got in front there was no chance in hell of stopping him. However, the battles down the field were excellent, similar to today’s racing.

Can’t think of a better way to kill time on my flight to see the grand prix.

I’m still waiting for F1 to hit their own video with a takedown.

If F1 would offer an on demand streaming service for thier races, I would cut the cord from cable.

Figured it out, they are going to be deleting the video after 19 days.

Ah, I didn’t see that in the comments before. A shame, but I’m happy they’re at least playing with this idea.
My fear is that this is a one-time thing; at the Monaco GP they had uploaded in-session footage of the drivers’ briefing, which is something I’ve never seen before apart from footage in Senna . The fans loved it, and F1 (between Liberty Media/FIA/FOM, not sure which party) said that it’s a one-off “for now.” They haven’t done it since, and I got the feeling that it was well-received.

I really wish they would, but I think they can’t due to archaic broadcasting rights contracts and legal mumbo-jumbo.
An F1 on-demand service with video from the source footage of old races would ruin my life.
