After all day on planes, broken sunglasses, and the inevitable frustrations of travel, I treated myself.
Pickled deviled eggs.
Filet mignon, allegedly local beef.
Local bourbon, but I forgot the name of the distillery. It made my tummy warm.
I am starting to feel better. I feel like these Midwestern folk actually are nicer. Is it true, or am I stereotyping?

Legit.
I’m in Chicago for business now. This is not my usual “run”, another person usually takes this region.
Every person I have worked with here has been very nice and courteous. I’m not used to it as I usually go to NYC or LA.

Having moved to the Midwest after 45 years in SoCal, I can say that yes, people are quite friendly and helpful out here. As much as I enjoyed my week back in Laguna, it felt nice to head back to STL. I may not be saying the same thing once the snow starts falling, but after 5 years here I actually kind of look forward to the seasonal changes.

Midwestern people are nice, at least compared to east coasters. That may be a low bar...

Come down to Tennessee. We sometimes think Chicago people are jerks compared to what we deal with, especially in the country.

By and large, Midwest nice is a thing. And damn that steak looked good! Any chance you can ask about the bourbon?

Pickled eggs are amazing.
Classic meal, potatoes, tender stem broccoli and a ruddy good steak.
Cheese burger, sliced and lightly fried ham, sliced pickled egg and some tomato sauce.
