I was sorely disappointed that they didn’t have the 1400 hp hoonicorn set a Pikes Peak time. As it sits right now it’s probably incredibly drift-inclined? Not necessarily setup to be a competent time-setting vehicle on the hill climb? But do you guys think it’s capable if perhaps the suspension and all wheel drive system were tweaked. As well as perhaps some more race-oriented rubber?

It’s capable but it would have to be during the hillclimb, not while they were shooting

I had the same thought in my head this morning.
Stop screwing around and get a stopwatch, let see what it can do.

Yeah, it’s almost criminal that they were at Pikes Peak with a 1400 horsepower AWD monster and as far as we know at this time, they did not set a time.

Why not make a run while they were shooting?

Because then they would have to change the entire setup and ken would have to relearn the car. Well actually, they could do it while they were shooting but they would have to find a class that the hoonicorn would be competitive in

It has pretty race oriented rubber right now. Its running the new R888's.
Its mostly just suspension tuning and engine tuning. Car is set up for acceleration. You can see at times in the video he is in sixth gear.
But he has a race team so im sure its pretty easy stuff to change and then im sure it would rip

Dusty Ventures brought up a good point in a discussion on the Jalopnik article. It may need (a lot) more aero/downforce.

yea that is true. I wonder how much it has when they first built it because its pretty custom body work

Couldn’t agree more. Forget about changing out parts. Just send it and see what he can do, without any of the shenanigans. I actually was hoping he’d have a timer going anyway, including the drifts. But then I saw he added in some “detours” which makes it
even more
irrelevant than with just drifts.

I was so excited when I started watching and then I was like “WHAT WHY YOU SPIN OUT?” oooohhh right. This is Ghymkana.

The films all display some impressive driving, and I like that the settings have changed up quite a bit now. But why does he always include a stupid cone. He did that at the top anyway! Put it there after the finish! It’s like a commercial break right at an exciting moment in a movie, it totally kills the momentum (also literally, in this case).

I was sad too that he didn’t try and set a real time

The Hoonicorn has very little downforce, because it was never built with speed in mind, it was built for fun. Pikes Peak cars on the other hand can produce up to three times their weight in downforce on the faster sections.

yea it has some aero bits. the rear wing and diffuser and front splitter. Im curious at how much downforce those make

Probably a few hundred pounds at best
