Had tons of fun at yesterday’s event, put on by PITL (Push It To The Limit Autocross series), with lots of 86's out there (and even an AE86). Blew a gate on my first and last run, but did not hit any cones the whole day!
Set a slow 76.484 time on my second run, improved to a 71ish second time on my third run... and I know I still have more in me, and to learn as well.
Will definitely sign up for the whole series next season. For 40 bucks including breakfast and lunch, its hard to go wrong, and I know there is a series discount as well. You can check out their website for more info.

Here’s a video of my 3rd run. I know, I need a new GoPro.

I’m trying to convince my Dad to bring his Series.Yellow to next weekend’s autocross. I am really interested to see how it will do at an autocross. Did they bump you up a class from stock for the performance package? My region specifies a class for stock BRZs and FRS’ and a bump class for FRS’ with the optional TRD suspension but nothing for performance pack BRZs. When I asked yesterday I was told that stock is stock regardless of how good the stock parts are so we could technically enter in class 2 (my region is small enough that we combine the SCCA classes into 6 scored classes) but they would probably take 1 look at the Brembos and move it into Class 3 or 4.

I acutally have a Sport-Tech (the name for the Limited in Canada), as the PP was not available here unless you purchased the Inazuma Edition (Series.Yellow). I was placed in A-Stock, which is the stock RWD class for my AutoX series. However, in my series, they allow the following modifications within the stock class:
Any make and size of tire and wheel combination. (2% time bonus for street tires)
Any make of shock absorber/strut assembly, including adjustable shocks.
Any modification of the exhaust system from the manifold back (no modifications to the manifold permitted).
Any modification to the air intake system. Modification and/or replacement of the Throttle Body (fuel Injection) or Carb not permitted, unless the substituted part was available as an option through the OEM manufacturer for that engine.
Larger sway-bars permitted provided they were available as an option through the OEM manufacturer for that car (must be Dealer option).
Any alignment adjustment within OEM specifications.
As I understand by the SCCA rules, the TRD suspension’d FRS’ get bumped up a class due to the TRD springs technically being an aftermarket part, based off of the Eibach Pro-Kit springs (albiet usually dealer installed/factory installed in some situations). As for the Brembo’s on your PP BRZ, I don’t think the Brembos will bump you up, although I could be mistaken.

The way it works in my region is that you start in one of the 6 classes which are groupings of the existing SCCA classes and then you are assigned points based on the upgrades done to the car. 15 points bump you into the next class and some SCCA classes are given 7 points as stock so they bump into the next class with fewer mods. The stock listing for the BRZ puts it in Class 2 as a C Street car. The Performance package is a serious piece of kit to be in the second slowest class and matching the included upgrades on another car would easily put you into class 3 or 4.

Hallo hallo! You may know me from the Toronto Oppo chat as BRZ Guy! I just changed my nickname to align with Kinja.

My region wouldn’t even let you run because you would be too likely to roll.

Glad to see you didn’t die of a heat stroke, did you stick around for the shoot out?

Brought lots of water, and someone I was mashalling with had an umbrella to keep me shaded (thanks dude, you the real MVP). Luckily I was in the 2nd marshall group so it wasn’t peak hotness while we were out there.
Also, I cooled off in the Powerade Center in between my last 2 runs, which helped!
I had to head home after my 4th run and missed it unfortunately. What car did they end up using for the shootout? And what car were you in? I’ll be back next season for sure, I’ll be sure to say hey next time!

There was an electric smart at PITL yesterday and he was absolutely nuts; spun twice, once through the stop box which was gnarly as hell!

Next season you should come out! There’s tons of different metal on the course, including an electric Smart ForTwo, as well as a B16 VTEC swapped CR-V. Your Juke would be right at home.

You didn’t hear it from me but we may have over-promoted for this event with 142 cars running on that day (we normally get 80-100 with 5 runs each). Glad to hear you still enjoyed the event and had some time to cool off.
Shootout was done with the blue Mini and red loud as f*** BMW 2 door, one run in each car back to back and fastest total combined time was crowned PITL overlord of the year.
Normally I drive my 91 Miata, but yesterday I was co-driving with a friend in the red EG Civic that was parked in front of the timing tent. We normally hang out under the Pinnacle tent, come on by anytime!

Probably managed to not hit any cones spinning through the box too.

142 cars is insane. My region caps at 50 cars and we usually have ~35. It’s nice to have smaller groups because it means we usually get 10-15 runs each.

Yeap, it’s nice to get a lot of runs. On the other hand, PITL tends to attract a lot of great drivers as it is one of the oldest and perhaps best organized autocross organizations in the Greater Toronto Area. It is always a great measuring stick for an individual as a competition driver.

Better do it on worn 6-7 y/old stock suspension for maximum LOLs. There is also a smaller group in Barrie that runs once a month.

Oh, the Smart spun through the stop box; nailed almost every cone in it!

Fair enough! I may try the Barrie one next year, just to try something different. I imagine there’s a smaller group there as well, which means more runs.
