I bet the mounting machine is what put enough pressure on the rim to crack it. The rust could only deal with so much force!

That’s my line!
But then I recently put 220 miles on this... And that was after “fixing” it. Broke two studs off while changing a flat... They were right next to each other so I moved one over and kept going.

I dunno. The broken edges seem to have had plenty of time to rust where you’d expect to see at least a sliver of fresh metal. I wonder if the installer overlooked that.
