Good morning Oppo

Kinja'd!!!

Edit: SONOFABITCH.

Got to work and stopped to take pictures:

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

And then I saw the smoke coming from under the hood. FUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!!! Talk about a panic moment.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Upon closer inspection, steam, not smoke. Whew! That’s good! What’s not good is a coolant hose I didn’t know existed that is no longer produced in a hard-to-reach location being split and I’m 10 miles from home. She was running well this morning too, damnit.

Not a good start to the day.

I miss driving my car to work. Its a boring short drive but its always a good way to start my day, enjoying my car. Its annoying having it in the shop for so long, dealing with a crappy Nissan rental. At least I am driving the fastest car in the world!

That sucks, but the car still looks great, so there’s that.

10 miles might not be too bad depending on where the coolant line runs. If it is going back to the radiator from the engine (seems likely given the steam), I would just get a big jug of water to top of the overflow tank, keep an eye on temps and gently drive it home. If it is supply I’d probably be more tempted to tow.

I’m a little surprised that no one is making the hose anymore? Unless it’s specific to the turbo, I guess.

Good luck - looks fantastic, especially with the T-tops off!

I think a lot of these issues are similar to how cars of that era behaved when new :)

Wow, that car is awesome. It’s only a hose, so no biggie. A pain in the ass, but no biggie.

Think of it as a way to find out it was there in the first place

Gotta hand it to GM’s styling department for not only embracing the malaise-era 5 mph bumpers, but actually highlighting them with a contrasting color and pinstriping.
