Honestly, if I was going to buy an F-type I would get the V6.

Why is that?

They are surprisingly heavy, but I wouldn’t kick one out of my garage
I also probably wouldn’t put one very high on my list of cars I want...

Out of curiosity, what other powerful sports/GT car would you have instead of an F-Type R?

Ha! I suppose in relative terms it’s a bargain.

You get to row your own for one, it’s cheaper and still super fun to drive.

Lol the reviews on carmaxs site on the ftype are hilarious
This is my favorite

I will have an F-Type one of these days... Soon.

I mean its a 35% drop from retail in 2 years lol

Oh gotcha.
Phew! For a minute there, I thought you didn’t like crashing sideways into trees....

I think I’d rather have a C7, 718, or 991. Obviously not as much power, but more nimble and I like nimble.
That said, I wouldn’t limit myself to no heavy-weights. The GTR is still a favorite of mine.
I think my problem with the F-type is that it it surprisingly heavy for its size. I anticipate 3900 lbs for a big GTR, but I don’t anticipate a relatively small car like the F-type to weigh over 2 tons.
From a GT perspective, it’s fine. But I guess I’d lean towards a more sports car focused setup, where weight reduction takes priority over power and luxury.

380bhp is still plenty enough to put you into a tree.

The lower spec ones are getting temptingly inexpensive too. I’ve seen a few CPO’s at dealers listed in the $40-50k range.

I completely agree that the F-Type is a boat. I don’t know why I’m so taken by the looks.
I love the way the Cayman drives. If only I could marry its driving characteristics to the F-Type...
I have driven the 718 and its a blast! But every time I idle, I feel like I’m driving a $70k Subaru :( I’d pick the 981 GTS over the 718.
I have considered a C7 too. I just don’t like the interior that much.

Same here. That, or the 981 Cayman GTS.
The F-Type S can be had for around $45k!!!!!!

I know, right?!

Don’t even get me started on the sound of the 718's.
A neighbor has one and it sounds AWFUL. Obnoxiously loud at idle, sounds like a garbage disposal, and I always expect an old Subaru to drive by.
They are seriously quick for a change at least (even in a straight line).

Very true.
I’m in it for the whole experience. Kinda why I’m not turned on by Teslas.
The sound is a big deal.

Only slightly more than most people make in a year! What a deal!

Sure, was just saying that it’s still a 63k vehicle. On its own that’s not a bargain, but compared to a new F-Type, sure!
Maybe in 5-10 years I’ll be able to have one :D

Cheaper, makes similar awesome noises, manual option.

Typical luxury car depreciation right? Also, not sure these really sell for sticker originally but could be wrong.

The sound. My goodness. Not my kind of car but it has a place in my heart. I took my daughter for a test drive in one. The sound. My God.
