It’s not too often that you see a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona with blue, painter’s tape numbers on it working it’s way around an Autocross course. But yesterday at the WNY-SCCA’s Autocross at New Era Field, I got see it!
Spoiler: It wasn’t very good, haha.
Anyways, here’s some pics by a few local photographers, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Photo Credit: Me and my shitty phone, but I at least got a good photo of the front end lifting and twisting on launch!
The Dodge was running in the 60-second range where most cars were in the 40-45 second range. But I don’t think anyone cared. It was just awesome seeing it out there actually being driven!
Edit: Apparently this Daytona is the car that was featured on the show ‘Graveyard Carz’
All in all it was a great, but HOT and long day. This was our final local event of the season and 108 people ran. It was great having such a turnout, but a ton of work.
I, personally did well. My STX RX-8 won the Novice Index again and I would have finished in 2nd place in the regular Street-Touring class, so apparently I’m doing something right. This was the first time I finished in the top quarter in PAX as well. I got one more OOR event in a couple weeks and might sneak in one more after, but then the RX-8 is getting parked in the garage and undergoing some major work to make it into a much more serious STX-prep car.
The only photo of my car today. (The local photographers were in the same run group as me). Photo Credit: Nate Michals

My immediate reaction is “That can’t be real”. But looks like it, and looks like it was a ton of work.

That’s what they started with? How do you even make a car out of that?

This gives me an idea: The world needs a Daytona or Superbird built specifically for autocross, slammed to the ground on real suspension, with wide fenders, monster slicks, a huge airdam and splitter, and monster rear wing elements between the standard uprights.

There must be a VIN plate in there somewhere!

Pretty sure that’s not a spoiler, that’s a bigass wing.

Ya that probably isn’t the best car for autocross but that is cool.
Your RX8 on the otherhand is probably a candidate for the best car for autocross lmao.

wow that is total ship of thesius levels. I am on the side of that paradox in thinking that it isn’t the same car.
