I love these old girls, both the Cortina and the Granada.

They have a functional yet elegant look.

I don’t know why but the Aussie Cortina looks more American in style from the front and rear

Oz made their own Cortina with a Ford Australia six, not the V6 used elsewhere. They also favoured supersize bumpers.

I think it’s the bumpers and the grille that stick out the most form the U.K. one.

Ye’, I looked up the Aussie Cortina, made in Broadmeadows, Victoria but the Kiwis made their own in Lower Hutt. I’d of thought the Aussie one would of been exported to the Kiwis.

It was apparently and despite the locally built ones sold in NZ at the same time.

Also note the side indicators which add to the sense of “other” about it.
