Nibby, is your expertise limited to computers that belong in a museum, or are you also in the know about newer stuff?
I may have hit a wall with my Core2 Duo processor (E7600) and it may be time to buy some new hardware. I have 16 GB RAM and NVidia Quadro FX 580 card and an SSD, but I’m having some trouble displaying a time lapse video I shot on my GoPro in 4k. I can view it better on my Core i7 laptop, but still not perfect. (I can also shoot in 2.7k/4:3...) An interesting aspect to this is that I can upload the video to YouTube and it looks great there.
Any thoughts? I am not a gamer and only editing some video and lots of Photoshop and LightRoom. For PS and Lr, the current setup is great.
If I can shoot my TL video in 2.7k and my current machine handles it, I’ll probably just make do a while longer.

Yeah your processor simply won’t cut it... best to just either build a new PC or buy a used workstation... What’s the most you could spend?

As little as possible. As a starting point, what would your minimum processor recommendation be?

at least a 2nd gen quad core or a 2010 xeon quad core... we could probably build something decent for less than $300 total if you’re okay with buying used stuff from ebay and we can reuse your SSD

I sent an email. Not sure which you’d prefer.
What about a used Precision Workstation from Ebay? Something like this, perhaps? No clue about the proc...
