Anybody got any big plans for the weekend? As for me, the Austin Symphony is playing the music for a screening of
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone
. Should be lots of fun. We’re doing
Star Wars Ep. IV
next month. The orchestra will eventually do all the HP and SW movies.

My big plans are to not go to work, other than that, nothing.

Seriously I know HP by heart now, my daughter has played it several times. Glacier Symphony played the force awakens last spring, it was nice to here the themes from A New Hope interspersed in the music. I just love the imperial march tho. They could just play the imperial march all the damn time and I’d be happy.

Enjoy my weekend doing not much (maybe, we’ll see what happens) and then I start a full-time job on Monday, rather than picking up shifts like I have been. Granted, if I end up with a shift this weekend, I probably won’t say no.

I think pretty much anywhere but the U.S. Apparently we American’s can’t wrap our heads around the word “philosopher”. :)

Kid’s going to a swimming clinic one day and hiking the next. Wife and I will have to figure out what to do with all that time to ourselves.

I’m heading in your general direction, but will stop short of 290.
We’re having meetings next week in Houston, so I have to spend Sunday afternoon in a rental. At least I’ll have a chance to visit some relatives I haven’t seen in a year or so!

I’m not sure, but I think I’ll do whatever my wife tells me to do. So, I’ll probably watch college football while folding laundry, then Sunday I’ll watch NFL football while folding laundry.
I need a damn hobby, as it appears that I’ve become boring.

Your hobby is folding clothes.

That hobby sucks. My old hobbies were: volunteer firefighting, playing guitar/singing, songwriting, scuba diving, cliff jumping, spelunking, rappelling, hiking, camping...
I have to demand a few of those hobbies back. Seriously, I’m almost embarrassed by how boring I’ve become.

No no no NO. I have to go find something exciting/daredevilish/adrenaline-inducing to do. Because this, sir, is bullshit.

I vaguely remember hearing that somewhere. As far as I’m concerned, they could call it the Kidney Stone as long as I get paid to play the music.

The HP show is fun, but I’m really looking forward to SW. When I was 11 and just starting to play, my father bought me the SW soundtrack (that’s 1977 on an LP, btw), and I listened to it over and over again. There’s some fantastic brass writing in the final battle that I can’t wait to play.

We have tickets for The Sorcerer’s Stone at the Symphony here in Tulsa coming up soon. Was motivation for my wife to read through the book with my oldest - he’s hooked how, and into the 2nd book. My wife is trying hard to keep up! (she’s read them all previously)
She and I saw the John Williams Star Wars tribute earlier. Loved the costumes that some of the musicians wore.

I think I’ll explore the world of extreme obstacle course running events. I just need to get in a little better shape to do them.
OFF TO THE GYM!!!
