I finally got a correct ABS module (three prong plug) and hooked it up. No dice. Still throwing these codes:
C1246 C1265 C1268.
C1246: ABS Outlet Valve Coil RR Circuit Failure
C1265: Lamp Warning Relay Short to Ground
C1268: Motor Relay #1 Circuit Failure
I give up. I’m not chasing this issue all over the place on a $1,500 truck. The brakes still work, so that’s a plus. I’ll just have to adjust snow driving to account for a lack of ABS.
I would get into the cluster and pull the bulb, but that’s too much trouble. Maybe it’ll go out on its own later like the air bag light occasionally does.

Popping the bulb out of the dash is free.

Or get an actual diagnosis from a mechanic instead of just guessing?

Already did that. Thanks. That’s where I got the codes.

That set is codes makes it sound like a mouse got the munchies on some wires or they rubbed through.
If I remember right there’s only like a total of 6 bolts you have to take out to get to the cluster, and that includes the 4 bolts to actually get the cluster loose.

And what did they say was the cause when the exact same codes came back?

Or find a mechanic that actually diagnoses and doesn’t just guess

I had the codes scanned and my friend and I replaced the unit. It’s not a big enough deal for me to take it to a mechanic and spend tons of money. I drive the truck 1,000 miles a year (once a week at most) and it’s a $1,500 truck. I’ll just accept the fact that it no longer has ABS.

Yeah. I was hoping it would be an easy fix, but no dice. It’s alright. I can deal with it. I’m certainly not throwing a ton of money at it.

Okeydokey. But when you said you already took it to a mechanic for actual diagnosis that was not the truth

Yeah, it was. I went to a local shop and had the codes scanned and was told the entire unit needed replacing. I tried to just replace the modulator itself and no dice, so the whole unit probably does need replacing. But, like I said, that’s too much time and energy for me at this stage of life.
