People suck. Got the License # before the asshole got away. Called the cops, who showed up and said they should be able to nab him pretty quick. Sounds like prosecution would be a pretty cut and dry thing, mainly because a surveillance camera at one of the neighbors’ homes backs up what I saw.

Rollbar, painted wheels, exhaust, supercharger, short shifter.... This was an enthusiast. Didn’t see the owner of the Miata, but I feel for him/her. I’d be crushed if something happened to mine.

That owner better remove the hardtop before it gets towed away...and remove everything else that’s aftermarket!

Oh no. That is obviously a well loved Miata and now it is totalled. What happened?

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully their insurance covers at least a small amount of aftermarket parts. There was a beautiful *crushed* track dog racing radiator and various aluminum engine bay dressings

I was on a ladder, heard a crash and saw a 2 door wrangler backing up off of the car before pulling back into the street and speeding down the street. I can only imagine he was trying to park because he wasn’t there a minute before

Good. Fuck that shit. On video you say? Even better. I hope they fight it and I get jury duty that day.

Ugh, that sucks. My Prelude was a hit & run victim earlier this year. Fortunately it was very minor. Just needs a new bumper. I have one, just haven’t had a chance to put it on.

Trying to park going 30?

If this was Texas the perpetrator would get the death penalty.

I guess. It’s a quiet two lane road with wide shoulders on either side for parking. The jeep had to actively leave the lane he was on to have hit the Miata

Wtf how!??? How fast do you have to be reversing to literally front end a vehicle this way. What a piece of shit.

I sure hope that number plate leads them straight to the driver. I’d hate for this to be a stolen vehicle H&R.

Nope, not reversing. Bumper to bumper.

How much you wanna bet the jeep driver left his lane because he was texting?

Vincent Vega once said it would be worth them doing it to catch them doing it, but I don’t know if that applies here. I’d press all the charges.

I understand that sentiment completely. My Miata got broken into the first week, title stolen. Part of me was really hoping they’d come back for the car the next day.

I left a statement, but was told I’d be contacted again if they caught the guy. Here’s hoping

I’ve had to replace my bumper three times (2x front and a back) due to people hitting my car while parked. Not as bad as this, but still bondo/paint/new bumper/make an insurance claim bad. I feel for you man. None of my people left notes.

I hope you got to talk to the owner. If they end up not fixing/replacing the car, maybe you can buy that really nice looking hard top.

This is also about the lowest thing I could imagine - killing an enthusiast’s car and running.
