A 1986 Corvette to be exact.
Yes, it’s an auto, but I just couldn’t pass this up. And did you see that digital dash? So eighties. It had a bad misfire when I got it, last night diagnosing I saw an arc from a spark plug wire, they were routed wrong and the wire insulation had burned through. Easy fix!
Also today I found coolant in my passenger footwell so it looks like I will be replacing the heater core as well. Other than that, it has great paint, brand new wheels, tires, brakes, door panels, trim, battery, alternator, no rips in the seats.
For $3k, NPOCP??

A leather wrapped steering wheel from ‘86? That cover is probably on there for a reason.
Still though, poorly wrapped black tape is better than an ill fitting steering wheel cover.

The original wheel leather is pretty worn, so I’ll probably leave it on. It’s on pretty tight, no slipping. Thanks!

That’s a nice thing. You need a tape deck.
And a pair of leather driving gloves.

Yeah I wouldn’t have chosen those wheels, but they are slightly better than the stock wheels at least. The receipt from the wheels and tires was over $1700 alone! Less than 500 miles on them.

NP. I usually don’t like black wheels, but they look right on your Vette. Stock pipes? It looks like it should be running something louder than stock, Mangnaflows or something. Not too loud, but goodly v8 burble.

Not stock pipes, not sure what they are though. Not too loud but louder than stock. Car just passed CA emissions so still has it’s cats and everything.

The dash is awesome, especially with all the switches for coolant temp, oil pressure, oil temp, average gas mileage, instant gas mileage, battery voltage. It’s super cool. And the window switches and mirror and seat controls are all on the center console.

That is nice, makes for a more affordable sports car. The C5 needs to have staggered tires as to not mess up with the TC.

Oh. Well that’s it then. I bought my C4 with C5 wheels on it courtesy of the previous owner. I turn TC off when I’m on the track but I still get idiot lights about the TC and the ABS which helpfully turns ABS off in the process. I figured I had a wheel speed sensor going bad but have zero use for TC or ABS in a track car so haven’t bothered to troubleshoot anything beyond musing on possible causes. Thanks!

You don’t have to ask me twice. That’s my C4 at Thunderhill in Northern California at the end of July. It was about 114 degrees that day. It’s got the LT1 so it’s got a bit of power compared to other cars made in 1992, but it’s far from fast. Handles nicely though. I’ve got slip on muffler tips to direct the Borla exhaust away from the sound meter at Laguna Seca too.

Those mufflers are awesome, they don’t have a problem with that or do they not notice? I know all about the LT1, had it in my 94 Z28...very stout.

It’s a race track on a state park. The rules were written as a specific agreement about noise. If the cars on the track are above 92db they’re black flagged and set home if they can’t quiet things down. Where the sound is measured is an open secret. They do have a portable tester and will use it if you’ve motivated someone to dislike you I suppose but otherwise I’d describe it as a gentleman’s agreement.
The folks operating the track don’t care for the sound limit themselves but they’re dependent on the park so they enforce things but only if required.

Nice! Yeah it seems pretty solid. If I keep long enough I’m sure I’ll end up upping the power or doing an engine swap but for now it’s plenty good enough for me.

Yeah, I’m thinking about a few mods to mine too. Probably intake and a cam. If its got stock exhaust behind those mufflers I’d do that first, it really opens up the car a decent amount.
JKER

Yeah see if/when I go down that road, I gotta go down it all the way. Intake, cam, exhaust, heads, get a good tune... The list goes on.

I think I need a truck following me with spare plastic shit that randomly breaks and falls off.
I love my c5 for the oomph. I hate it for the plastic vomit inside
