This happened on Tuesday. My daughter was born on Friday.

I remember watching the second plane hit the tower in my college cafeteria and friends freak out because their parents worked in the Financial district.
Was a pretty hectic day making my way home.

I’m glad for your daughter, and for my kids, that this happened before their consciousness of it. I know that there will continue to be bad things that happen in our world, just as bad and worse than the horror of 9/11, and I’m not looking forward to the day when I have to start pulling back the veil for my kids to reveal just how broken and cruel our world is...

I was born the day before the first attack on the World Trade Center in 1993. On September 11, I was in third grade. The veil that davesaddiction speak of
was pulled back the moment I got home from school. My dad had left the
TV on and when I walked in I was greeted by a replay of the towers collapsing. Before then, I only saw war as something that happened in some far away land. Twelve years later I was in southern Afghanistan watching the sun set below the mountains around Kandahar.

I bought this the other day:

There is never an easy way to discuss/explain it, figured this was something my kids (13,10 and 3) would understand. A bit surreal to read, but everything about today is.

And the FAA ground stop. It was a wacky time.
