Should have had the headlights up
I had originally hoped for today being dedicated to doing nothing other than going for a very long drive to relax and think some things over (work problems). As things go, that wasn’t the case.
Amongst other things though, I did get to go for a short drive, finally have someone show up to give an estimate for the concrete work I need done, do laundry in preparation for an upcoming work trip, tidy up the house, re-organize the shed and add an extra 1/2" of plywood to the floor on the door end, wash the tractor, put it in the shed, and clean up the new-to-me late 20's or early 30's typewriter I was given (which works well, just needs new ribbon).
I thought the deck was all rust, turns out it was dirt-on-red-paint that looked a lot like surface rust. Also visible: ignition coil for an MGB which has been transplanted into the tractor to bring it back to life.
So it was still a good day, just not the good day I had planned.

Thanks, it is clearly very well-used but seems to work well. I’m hoping the fresh ribbon remedies the very-faint type (where the bottom is darker than the top). Could probably use a little light oil, too.

does it have an angle alignment adjustment? sounds like the body might be off a bit. Some of those old ones you could tweak the strike angle.

I have no idea whatsoever. I think every time I look at it I find another knob or switch or some other
thing
so it’s possible. If the ribbon doesn’t even it out, I’ll look in to it for sure.
