Extremely close, but it’s not a Celica.

Oh, I got it. It’s a Corolla Levin Apex or some Sprinter variant.

Edit: Nope, the others are right. It’s a Curren.

Yeah~! You also win the internet tonight.

What thought process did you go through to remember the Curren?

Looks like a 90s Celica/Supra and those are obviously Toyota wheels, but I couldn’t figure it out without a reverse GIS, so I’ma leave the name off.

Kinja'd!!!1

I recognized the late 90s Celica connection as soon as I saw the picture although it didn’t look *quite* right. Based on that and your response I knew it had to be a JDM relative so I went to the Google — was drawing a blank because it wasn’t a Corona really.

Yeah, it Bman and WilliamsSW figured it out anyway.

Pretty sure it’s reverse GIS-proof regardless. Mirror + crop.

Recognized the rear as a Celica, looked for platform mates from there.

It isn’t. I right clicked, hit “Search Google for image”, and it said, “Best guess for this image: Toyota Curren”.

Nice, that’s what I was thinking.

Though bear in mind, WilliamSW got it independently 30 seconds later, so you’re sharing the internet now.

They should’ve made a turbo version so it could be called the Current :p

Toyota should’ve sold it over here as a replacement for the Isuzu-made Geo Storm (like how the Prizm was a rebadged JDM Corolla variant). The Storm/Impulse was pulled after 1993, and the Curren came out in 94, so why not?

Based on the styling, I was hoping it was a big, comfy, RWD grand tourer with a V8 up front. I was a little disappointed to learn that it’s just a better-looking Celica that doesn’t even offer AWD.

Cool idea, though the Curren is a size up from the Isuzu (considering it is just a rebodied Celica) - so it would be a lot more upmarket, not so much a direct replacement.

Loving that Current name though, and that Japanese Sonic profile picture. Always thought Sonic artwork looked ace.

If it had a V8 and RWD you would’ve known about it already. ;P

But yeah, I guess that’s what mods are for.
