I forgot to post pictures. I also forgot to take them for the most part, I’ll do better next year. Here’s a dump in no particular order

There’s something right about bronze wheels

The theme this year was “Cone Wars”

For those that don’t know autocross classing, DSP is D Street Prepared. Street Prepared cars are crazy but still could be called street cars, Prepared cars are next level crazy and dedicated track cars, Modified is the ultimate true race car class

CAM-T is classic American muscle - traditional. This means cars of a certain age, and modifications are pretty much unlimited. Runs on a street tire

SSM is one of the coolest classes. There was an R8 too

While this wing looks enormous, it actually isn’t that crazy, it’s just proportionally large. A GTR you’ll see further down had a much bigger wing

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This picture doesn’t really capture how MASSIVE the wing was

Kinja'd!!!

Frenemies

Kinja'd!!!

FS was Mustangs, Camaros, and V8 M3s

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This was annoying. At the end of the first day runs every street competitor had to jack up the car and take off two wheels so competitors could inspect for any illegal mods. Also with so many cars running there’s a lot of OPR that builds up on tires, luckily I had a friend with a tire shaver clean my wheels

Great photos and captions. This is better than any write up I’ve seen in my club newsletter or the SCCA magazine.

I have been picking up OPR (other people’s rubber) at Central Carolinas Region events, and may need to get a tire shaver, but frankly, I doubt it is as much of a problem as my limited skills.

I don’t think you need a tire shaver. As long as you drive enough between events to clean it off you’re probably fine. I didn’t shave between runs, though it looked like that became common on the last day as those competitors were picking up A LOT of it.

I don’t drive on them much between events, though, since my tires/wheels are dedicated for autocross. I take them off right after I get home, usually. But even though I note some OPR on them, I’m not particularly concerned such that I’m going to do anything about it at this point.

I’ve seen others shaving before an event, but I guess I shouldn’t be surprised to hear of those doing it during the event . . . very, very serious at nationals.

It’s not just a question of seriousness, it’s also the sheer number of cars. There’s 4-5 cars on course at a time all day for 4 days. There’s a ton of rubber to pick up.

I was headed north on 90/94, North of Madison and passed a couple of what I assume were autocrossers headed home. One was a 80's red BMW 3 series with about 9“ of front wheel spacers on an open trailer. The other was a 90's white 325? on open trailer pulled over on side of the road. Must have been in same class, headed home at same time. Anybody here?
