Still doesn’t deserve to have his car left on rocks.

That was my reaction to the security guard who said “they even took the things the lug nuts screw onto” while I took the photos.

I believe it uses lug studs like VAG products and Minis do.

I think (for whatever reason) they’re still using bolts, not studs and nuts

Learn something every day! So, uh. What’s the benefit of doing it that way? Or do we just call it “German engineering” and roll our eyes..?

Huh. That sounds mildly annoying

I believe it’s to aid during assembly at the factory, but I’m not positive. The Chrysler 200s went to lug bolts as well, when they used to be studs and nuts. But it seems to be more of the German marks than anything. All 3 Audi’s I’ve had are all lug bolts. They do give you a dummy rod to thread in a lug hole to help line up the wheel with the lug holes, it’s not a big deal really, but without the alignment tool, it’s not much fun.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

This happened in a parking garage?! This city, I do not want to go there.
Well, actually, I could go there. No one wants Fiat wheels...

I think it’s a corrosion solution. Lug nuts often get corroded onto studs, and can be a pain to get off. Shops also have a tendancy to cross thread lug nuts on the studs. Studs like to shear off when someone tries to remove one of the above. Studs have to be softer than you really want them to be, so the can be pressed into the hub.
I’ve never had/seen those problems with lug bolts.

No idea what the reasoning is. They are a massive pain in the ass though.

It happened in a parking garage with no cameras where all the employees work the same shift. So super easy target for anyone who knows.

My rx7 has bolts not studs and it isn’t bad at all putting the wheels on, though they’re 13" aluminum wheels not the 20" monsters on a modern car.
