I think it’s a damn good looking car, and the exhaust sounded pretty good. I wouldn’t kick one out of my driveway. I’ll take it in orange, too.

I’ve been saying this over and over. The Elantra GT Sport is a tremendous sportwagon.

I currently drive an Elantra GT (2014 or 2015), and an Elantra GT Sport would make it that much better. With how much stuff I can cram in it and how solid it is on long drives, a bit more power would make it a solid option compared to other hatchbacks in that price range.

And yet it still looks totally generic. If you hadn’t mentioned the KIA name, I would have thought that it was one of those ancient Mitsubishi Lancers. Or wait, isn’t that the new Buick that is supposed to bring in in people with an actual pulse? Oh no, you fooled me there, it’s the new Chevy Cruze!

Yeah the previous generation Elantra GT were also cool. I had a 2013 Elantra coupe, which was incredibly rare and unpopular but it was such a good car. Then I got the Veloster Rally and that was pretty much flawless as a DD enthusiast car.
The Elantra GT sport would be an evolved combination of the two.

Having both Subaru and Hyundai, it is wild how much it looks like the Impreza

There is now an Elantra GT Sport. It’s a little more pricey (and has more options) than the regular Elantra Sport.

Oh, I know about it. It’d be a sweet upgrade in a few years. But it’s still a dream.

I kind of see it, but not really.

Something about Hyundai still has me leery of considering one. I feel like that curmudgeon who wouldn’t given Toyota a chance just as they were starting to get good in the 80's.

Looks more like it in person, I’ll try to get a picture.

It’s pretty much the exact same thing that happened with the late adopters and the Japanese in the 80s. I got banned from oppo FB because I called these people out on this super obvious Korean hate/bias too. Censorship much.

Just so as you are aware Oppo and oppo FB are unrelated. but yeah, the Koreans are for sure the new Japanese (in terms of car makes in this country.)

It looks great, inside and out. If only it drove a quarter as good as it looks, even an eighth.

When I had a rental Elantra for ~2500 km across Atlantic Canada my only thought was that the Sport should be the base model. 150 HP is just not enough for a car, and in fact makes already slow drivers even slower and less attentive.

They do look good, I would obviously prefer the GT. But it’s worse than that: I’d get the 2012 Touring (the wagon they didn’t want to call a wagon because America).
Though if I had new car money and went Korean, gimme dat Forte5 SX

The fact that you’re willing to admit that at all is a good thing. I have similar biases against certain brands. Even though my last 8 cars have been Toyota products, it pains me to say that the Koreans have been making more interesting cars and concept cars than Toyota as of late...
